Doesn’t look like much at first but if you really look around as you walk the path there is a lot to see! So many butterflies and birds! The sulfur from the spring turns the water in the creek a crazy white/green color. Saw lizards and there was one snake but he slithered away as soon as it saw us coming. Lots of cacti and there were a group of three deer that we kept running into despite the fence surrounding the nature preserve to keep the deer out. It was very peaceful and could have sat on one of the benches and enjoyed the sounds of nature for awhile.

"There's nothing wrong with having a tree as a friend," and Cooper Spring Nature Park is a great place to make some friends.

Flowers, butterflies, birds, reptiles, fish, and more are waiting to make your acquaintance. Take a quiet moment and see the diversity that this park has to offer you. It's amazing what calls this park home just a few short blocks from the town center.

I am always happy to visit my friends at Cooper Springs Nature Park whenever I'm in town, and I know they would be happy to meet you too!

Cooper Spring Nature Park, near the downtown courthouse square in Lampasas, is a City park with mown paths, a creek, and splendid wildflowers in spring and summer. The gate to the park was designed by T.J. Mabrey, an artist who used to live in Lampasas but now makes her home in Santa Fe, N.M. Newly installed rock "benches" make this a perfect place to enjoy lunch (but please put your trash in the bin near the entrance) or just to sit and contemplate the surrounding natural beauty. Over 119 different types of birds have been sighted in the park. The park is free and always open.

For anyone who enjoys nature, this is the place! It has water, native grasses, flowers and birds. This park is located two blocks from downtown and across the street from Hanna Springs Sculpture Garden.
