Lovely, traditional French mountain food, if you like cheese, tartiflette and calorific mountain food, then this is the place. The owner was great and very helpful and chatty

We’ve only eaten here once before in the 6 years we’ve been coming to Saint Gervais and - after a fairly awful experience 5 years ago- but thought we’d give it another go. We really, really wish we hadn’t.

After arriving at the restaurant, we were left for quite some time before being given menus by the single waitress, and significantly longer again before being able to order. Both of our children ordered salads, with my wife and I ordering the menu du jour - more to come on that.

Of the drinks we tried to order, the girls’ requested fruit juices were unavailable; our wine was bargain basement at best.

When our starter arrived, it was a couple of rough lettuce leaves with a tiny amount of sweet corn and kidney beans. There was no dressing, we were asked to use the vinegar on the table.

Our main courses subsequently arrived. Our daughter’s Caesar salad had no Caesar sauce, and she was directed to use the vinegar again. Our entrecôtes were truly awful pieces of meat, more gristle than meat and absolutely swimming in grease.

For desert, we ordered the tiramisu fraise. This turned out to be a soggy cream splattered sponge with a few small chunks of strawberry.

When it came to getting the bill, the €16 “menu du jour” we had ordered he strangely become a 23€ “menu du Savoyarde”. When we challenged it, we were told that this explained - which it clearly wasn’t.

Service was slow and poor throughout, something that abundant smiles and platitudes was never going to address.

Overall, I just feel a bit stupid for giving them another chance. A ridiculously expensive bill for the very poor meal and service it was. There are far too many good restaurants in Saint Gervais to waste your time on this rip off.

Went here for our last night in st gervais. Small restaurant and was busy but managed to accommodate us. Waitress was very friendly and food was gorgeous. Definitely recommend.

This is a lovely restaurant in the the town centre of Saint Gervais. We enjoyed the food here. Fondue and Raclette is recommended. As others have mentioned, it's worth booking in advance during peak season.

This is a small quaint restaurant right at the town centre of saint Gervais
Food was traditional French and fondue was good
There are only a few tables so advisable to book as most restaurants get booked up at peak season
