Clean, room long and narrow, so much so, it was difficult getting in and out of bed. Bathroom well appointed, great shower. Really good breakfast which was replenished promptly.

Negative points.... No lift, no help with luggage, we had an “Attic Room” on the second floor..... absolutely no view unless you stood on the bed and looked out of the skylight.

Disappointed to be charged for two nights, despite giving 48 hours notice that we were having to. Amend the booking due to circumstances beyond our control.

Would I recommend this, or stay here again? Probably not, but my view is jaundiced by the fact that we were charged for two nights and only stayed the one. Additionally if you have any mobility issues, bear in mind there are lots of stairs, no lift and no help with luggage.

There is nothing intrinsically wrong with the Hotel, I was just disappointed.

The location is fantastic, the views from the hotel on the idyllic sea extraordinary. If you get one of the few rooms with a balcony you will enjoy every minute. Our room was actually a junior suite, very nice, not updated, but that did not matter. The bathroom was not big, but modern and had all you needed. The terrace, should have been better cared for, but anyway we enjoyed it. (Hotel: Please remove the carpet, it is not necessary.) Even on a hot day, in the night you sleep, the bed is good and the air from the sea wonderful.The service is all the time friendly and nice. The breakfast is ok, but we had expected a little better, it varied. Several days: No fresh fruit in the middle of the season. In several other hotels in southern Germany, the management every day greeted the guests, here invisible. But the hotel is absolutely worth visiting.

I have been staying at the Waldsee for some years now..returning every year a new opera is being performed at Bregenz/Lake Constance.
I always try to reserve my favourite Room No. 6 with a balcony overlooking the lake..the views at any time of day or night are amazing...the quietness and peace of this location are wonderful. But above everything else it is the Family Hartmann who host with impeccable courtesy and humour...Iris Hartmann holding fort in Reception and Bodo Hartmann turning out the most delicious foods from the kitchen. Tip: start your day with a huge/versatile/organic breakfast (until 11am!)...walk round the lake - or further - on easy footpaths through deep forests and fields (the air is just the best you can breathe anywhere)...follow with a pre-lunch drink on the terrace (huge sun-sails keep you shaded and dry even through the rains)...have some lunch or coffee with incredible cakes/waffels/ice-creams...go for a swim in the lake...take a rest and prepare for an outstanding dinner yet again on the terrace overlooking the lake...a perfect day in a perfect location.
DO NOT FORGET to try the home-made jams and breads and bircher muesli and Bodo Hartmann's fish specialities...very, very nice! More walks/drives in the beautiful surroundings in/out of Lindenberg (visit the two-towered church!) will help to reduce the accumulated calories...which you will add on - no doubt - again the following day.
The staff is very friendly and attentative...the room maids helpful and efficient....in short: the Waldsee is a wonderful retreat for your soul and body. (1 1/2 hours from Munich airport-1 hour from Friedrichshafen airport - a car for exploring this beautiful part of Bavaria essential).
