“Nice hotel great location”
Reviewed 2 October 2011

Just back and had a great 4 days.Dont know how anyone can complain about the food because there was loads to choose from (if you dont know what it is try it).Plenty of sunbeds as it was quiet .Had meals in the pionero across the road and also night time drinks.Dont do spirits but the soft drinks wine and beer were all good.No problems with any staff as they seemed to know what they were doing.Great location minutes from a lovely sandy beach.

I was a little worried about some reviews before I went, but this hotel is excellent value for money. Sonta Ponsa itself is a beautiful place, the hotel was clean, maids came everyday, staff were friendly and the entertainment was generally ok. The only downside I could say is that the food did get a little repetitive and sometimes it was a little cold but overall the choice was good, my mum was impressed as they had gravy!!! something she always missed when going abroad.I was very impressed overall and I would go there again.

Stayed here beginning of Sept for 5 nights. First thing to say was hotel is nice and clean, perfectly adequate for us. Room has usual small TV with BBC World & CNN as your two main watchable channels. The hotels location is excellent - it's no more than a 1 minute walk from the front of hotel to the promenade. You have a choice of rooms either overlookingthe pool of the street out front, but noise was not a problem out front as nothing blaring out till late at night like some hotels (we were on 3rd floor facing street).

The food is adequate, edible but nothing exciting, some seemed to like it more than others but fairly typical of AI in this standard of hotel. Good points included fresh baked sticks of bread cooked in an oven out front in restaurant - ideal if you could catch them 'hot out the oven'.
One thing that was impressive from start to finish was the service. After arriving at 12.15am and just missing the bar, the pleasant gentleman on reception offered to open the restaurant and let us free on the coffee and juice machines which was much appreciated. The service at the AI bar was quick and a decent selection of drinks. 4 cocktails to choose from - pina colada was nice! The restaurant staff although seeming a little hassled, were very efficient.

The pool was decent enough with enough beds whenwe were there - it caught the sun so was good for cooling down without being too cold.

Food is well priced in resort so eating out is possible if you fancy a change, and for those who like their home comforts a McD's is 2 mins walk away on prom and 5 mins walk is Burger King although both a little pricier than back home (McFlurry 2.5 Euros!).

Beach is nice and large, good sand although I heard the sun beds are 5Euros each. In the evening its a nice walk with plenty of the usual shops. If you get back to hotel around 10ish there's usually an hr of adult entertainment after kids stuff. eg snake show, kareoke, spanish dancing, quiz comp.

All in all perfect for a relaxing break at the hotel & resort - ideal trip if thinking of taking kids as a definate family resort.

One sour note was the transfer from airport. A wait of 90mins for coach to pick up various flights, then a 85min trip to resort as drops off in Magaluf 1st, so if you want a 3hr trip to from stepping off the plane (longer than your flight) then book a transfer!! it may be cheap but be prepared to wait ages if unlucky followed by a journey that felt like you saw everything in Magaluf 3 times over! The resort to airport should be no more than 20mins if you go direct. I think a taxi costs around 35E, so chose wisely.

To sum up - would I go back - yes, certainly with kids. But fine for couples seeking relaxing break. PS. if its the footy season, plenty of bars show the UK matches.

Just back from holiday 22nd Sept. Second visit to this hotel. Food sadly has gone downhill. Luke warm at best and not very variable. Staff generally lok fed up appart from one female member of bar staff. On a positive note drinks very large and strong.
Resort busy with lots of Russians, Italians at present.
Found a fantastic cove thanks to my sister in law. Had a great nite on the strip and some great nites with great company.
Wouldnt return to hotel again, Pionero (sister hotel) has more choice in food. Bigger rooms too, worth paying for that! Sunbeds limited however lots available on sun deck. Pool great at Santa Ponsa Park whose facilities you can use.

I stayed at this hotel with my boyfriend on 14th September for one week and after reading the reviews i wasn't too sure what to expect as there was a mixture of good and bad!
I have to say that mainly what i have to say about this hotel is positive and i would definately go back!
The pool area is lovely although shaded, you can only get the sun for half of the day unless you move around as there are lots of trees. The pool is nice and big and there is a lifeguard on duty during the day (although i must say he seemed to spend more time on his phone then looking at the pool area!!!) There is also a childrens pool. Reading previous reviews it seemed that we would struggle to get a sun lounger in the morning but we had no problem whatsoever. We could go down at any time and there was plenty of sun loungers and even extra ones stacked up. This was probably down to the time of year that we went! There are also tables and chairs to sit at by the pool too!
The rooms are clean and tidy and the beds nice and comfy. There is air conditioning and a fan which work lovely. We have a view of the road and this was a little noisy from time to time, the balconys are only small as is the bathroom but i don't this this is something that would ruin your holiday!
Again a few people seem to have had a few problems with the bar staff but i found them all pleasent and ok although we got talking to one couple who said there was one specific man who was a bit rude and ignorant! There was queing from time to time but nothing more than about 5 mins! I would definately go down the all inclusive route as i think this is the best option and for the price we got it at (£275pp all inc via teletext/Ola Holidays) was great! The drinks are fab, they are not tight on their measures, in fact it was the total opposite and it nearly killed me when i took a sip! You can get up to 3 drinks at a time at the bar and go back as many times as you want!
Found the reception staff to be ok too. Didn't have a lot of dealings with them apart from checking in and out and found them to be efficient. A safe is €6.50 a day or €25 a week which seemed a bit on the steep side to me.
The food again was nice. I don't know what some people expect from a 3 star hotel but i found it really nice. There was plenty of salads and meat, pastas, lasange, fresh bread etc etc. For breakfast there was a choice of cereals, full english and fruit, although i will warn you the orange juice is very strong and tastes like it needs diluting! Again the staff in there are very nice although sometimes they needed prompting on a night if you would like a drink but they are busy people clearing tables for people!
The location is nice too, not far from the beach at all and there are lots of shops and bars around. If you walk left out of the hotel then right at the end of the road and keep walking straight up, along the top there are a few bars, especially scottish and irish! But would recommend Magaluf or Palmanova which are aroud 10 mins away if you would prefer somewhere a bit more lively because around our area it really wasn't!
There were telephones and an information area to the right as you walk in along with a computer that was €1 for 12mins or €2 for half an hour.
We didnt stay to watch a lot of the entertainment, in fact we only watched the snake show and the acrobats which i found really good and couldnt comment on the day time activities as we didnt partake but they seemed to be a lot going on such as water polo, football, archery etc etc.
The only downside of the visit was taking our transfer back to the airport, they missed us on the way back although we made sure to make ourselves aware that we were there to each driver and they each said we were not on their list. That really did end the holiday badly and i have read a few other people have had problems so will definately be taking this up with them! A taxi to Palma cost €37.
Apart from that i would definately return again!

just got back from a weeks stay, after a two hour tour on coach from airport got to hotel 1 am in the morning reception was OK ,got second floor room facing street ,room are on the small side but you don't stay in room all day so this was not a problem bathroom with shower as everyone has said there not a lot of room in shower, rooms was cleaned everyday and beds made daily, cleaners are very friendly
breakfast is the same everyday cereals, yogurt, fruit, full English,or continental breakfast fruit juice and tea and coffee dinner was not anything to write home about must of had pork on the menu about 6 days running other meats were available but didn't look to appetizing .
the bar was expensive 1 Tia maria and coke 1 rum a Coke came to over 9 euros .Lots of people around the pool but always managed to find a sun lounger or went across to sister hotel and used there pool.
Santa ponsa is very quite if you are looking for clubs and bars then i suggest you stay in magaluf.
overall Santa ponsa is a nice place but i would choose another hotel next time .

Stayed at this hotel with my partner and our 11 year old son! The rooms are on the small side and the showers in the rooms are tiny but your on holiday how long do you actually spend in your room its just somewhere to get your head down and have a wash etc.... The food is good but does get repetative but then its the same anywhere you go. The drinks are good and the staff are not shy with the measures!! The entertainment team work hard with both the kids and the adults. I enjoyed my stay at this hotel and would return it is a very good 3* the rooms are cleaned everyday and the beds changed, clean towels the maids work hard and its no bother for them to call back to your room if its to early for you! I found all staff at the hotel helpful most were happy you did get the odd grumpy one but there we are!! I would advise people to stay here we had no problems you get good reviews and bad everywhere you go but this hotel is good and this is an honest review !! I'v definatly stayed in worse hotels!! Go and try for yourselves especially if you have young children!! Also I see some people complained about the air con noise from the one end of the hotel our room was that end and we had no problems with it couldn hear it at all once the balcony door was closed!
