Returned back from a nine night stay which cost us an arm and a leg but probably because we booked last minute in the school holidays.
Riu palace has lovely beaches and lovely local restaurants. The food is OK but they only do half board !!! You have to pay for water at dinner :-((. There is a mini bar in the room and again you pay for what you use at the end of your stay. (Tip: empty out the mini bar and put the bottles to the side and buy 2 medium bottles of water, some sangria :-), cheese and salami and small butter and lunch is sorted if you wish :-). The staff at the hotel are very welcoming and friendly. Kids club is very very basic but they still enjoyed it. We only managed to get a side sea view and view of the road which i think ruined our holiday a little so book a full sea view !! Makes all the difference. If you are travelling with kids, you sleep in the same room and they sleep on a sofa bed. Still nice and spacious though. If you are a couple, go to Cosmo shopping centre right at the top at night as there are about 3/4 clubs with good music. There are lots of stairs so I just used this as a positive to get some exercise !!! I wouldn't return again but that's just because of what I was looking for. I wanted to do watersports where I could hire sail boats and peddle boats with family but they had instructors for everything. There are boat rides you can go on but we never got around to it. Even though I was with my 2 kids, i was looking for some more livelier bars at night which were just not there unfortunately. Corralejo is a must apparently so may visit that area next time. If your looking for total relaxation on beaches in day and visiting some local restaurants at night then this is for you. If you fancy a pizza, go to the one on the 02nd floor in the Cosmo shopping centre. There are lots of local shops selling clothes- worth buying some summer dresses out there!! There is also an African market but can't remember the days it's on so worth checking but make sure you haggle the prices down. There is only one pool but no one is ever really in it. It's s bit cold but my advice is to get in there on the 01st day and feel the coldness and as with anyone pool, after that it you will be fine!! Don't let photos tempt you into going as I love taking pictures !! Go by what you actually want from the holiday...... x

OK , first up ..gym is good enough haha. 1st ever stay at this hotel although holiday'd in resort before a few times. The Hotel is just class, from the moment we were greeted at the reception with champagne and our cases whisked away to our room. Every member of the staff are so friendly, helpful and genuinely go out of their way to ensure that our stay was perfect. Room was so comfortable light and spacious , beds perfect and immaculately cleaned daily and fruit and wine. the lounge area and sofa and chairs all comfortable and some British tv programes (if you want). The whole hotel is kept beautifully clean and ok its not a "state of the art" new hotel but that is what adds to its charm. Its just so laid back and relaxed, plenty of room and loungers around the pool to bath on.Pool area and view is great. The food is excellent. All of the restaurant team take such good care of you and the food is amazing. The serving chefs all want to explain what they have to offer in front of you. There is such a wide superb choice of cuisine and all so delicious at both breakfast and dinner. We cannot praise the Hotel, its staff and location enough and will return. The hotel doesn't cater for kids really and there is no club or even group pool exercises (suits us cos we have done my kids holidays when ours were young ) . If you want all that and boisterous noise then go elsewhere. IF you want a quiet quality hotel, great staff, great location, great food and just want to relax quietly by the pool or get the lift to the beach below and then maybe walk to the nearby shops or bars below then this is the place. We will definitely return. Thank you to all the staff for making our stay so memorable.

We have just returned from our 12th visit to this great hotel, where we know we can really relax in comfort with great service and excellent food.

I have written a number of previous reviews about this hotel, so won't repeat what is in them other than to say that service standards never slip at the Riu Palace Jandia.

The hotel is very well located between Jandia and the small fishing village of Morro Jable with its great selection of restaurants and bars, many overlooking the ocean. The beach is magnificent with clean golden sand gently shelving into the ocean. The hotel is perched on a small hill directly overlooking the beach and with direct access to it.

On arrival at the hotel we always receive a warm reception and a glass of cava whilst checking. A porter quickly took our luggage to our room which was large with two steps down to a lounge area with patio doors opening onto a good sized balcony with great sea views. The room is very well equipped with a large bathroom and plenty of wardrobe space.

Food in this hotel is really excellent both at breakfast and dinner with a wide choice of freshly prepared hot and cold food served buffet style. Service is friendly and efficient, and there is a separate smaller Rodizio restaurant with waiter service at no extra cost but this requires pre-booking.

What sets this hotel apart for us is the friendly efficiency of all of the staff who do their very best to make you feel a welcomed and valued guest.

A previous review referred to the hotel being near a petrol station, and whilst there is one a the back of the hotel, petrol smells (if any) would only affect a small number of rooms by the road in Block B, which are the cheaper rooms with a partial sea view. We always have rooms on Block D where the only smell is the ocean and it is great at night to go to sleep with the sound of the waves crashing onto the beach! The hotel does have a lot of steps which would make it difficult for anyone with mobility problems, but this was not a problem for us.

To us, this is a special hotel which always delivers relaxation, comfort and service from the moment we arrive.

Room tip: Rooms in Blocks C and D directly overlook the beach, with Block A overlooking the pool and the ocean, and Block B having side sea views.

If you are allergic to gas, this hotel is not for You. As the wind in the island is very strong at day time, so the petrol you can feel at night time, when it is more silent. You must close all windows the whole night and sleep with out fresh air. You can not use balcony space in the evening too. Except for old lifts and slippery floors, everything is very good

We have just returned from two weeks at the Riu Palace. It's a fabulous hotel built on the side of a cliff. We had a very comfortable large suit. Food was excellent which included vegetarian. All the staff are so friendly and welcoming.
However it's not an idea hotel for the disabled as there are many stairs, plus a spiral staircase down to the beach.
There's not a lot to do in Jandia. A few trips to the zoo, boating, safari, but not excursions to other parts of the island and nothing organised for the English.!! We travelled with Tui, and although they had reps at the hotel, not one for the English. They gave us an English contact number for info, and an email address, but it was answered in German.!!!

Room tip: There is a very noisy road passing the front of the hotel so try to get a room at the back facing the sea.
