“March 2012. Never again!!”
Reviewed 13 March 2012

We stayed here for 1 week in early March. We asked for a quiet hotel and that is what we got. We also asked for a sea view, but ended up above the restaurant with a fire escape and pipework as a view. We had to pay extra at the hotel reception for an upgrade!!
So, we begrudgingly paid and went to our new room. Damp and foul smelling bathroom was awful. As was the smell in the corridor leading to the rooms. Disgusting. The food seemed ok and what you can expect from a 3* hotel. Until Thursday.....terrible case of food poisoning that lasted 2 days. I suspect it was the beefburger at the poolside snack bar, but i'm not sure. My partner was ill from the Saturday so we stopped eating at the hotel altogether! It looks nice but definitely isn't. Lot's of the food is not cooked enough and was only warm rather than hot. The 'help yourself' soft drinks are disgusting as is the fruit juice for breakfast. Pool and garden area are lovely and very clean, although they desperately need some new Sun Beds, as most were broken or filthy. I know it's only a 3* hotel but certain standards have to be maintained and sadly this hotel fails miserably in our experience. It is on top of a hill and it is very, very windy! Lot's of steps down to the beach and a nice promenade, but that's about it in San Agustin. Generally the place is run down and miserable. This hotel desperately needs some urgent improvements and the poor hygiene standards ruined our holiday.

we found the interclub atlantic a very nice hotel, there are not many brits there. It is mainly full of middle aged people or familys. The food was very good and you could eat and drink nearly all day if you wanted to. It was very clean. i would of perfered it if more was going on but if you like it quite its a good place to go. The views are lovley. Dont think we would go again, but we had a very nice time

Room Tip: dont get a ground floor will be dark down there

Have just returned from a week at the hotel, this is the 5th time have stayed there. It is a great hotel a bit out of the way, quiet just the way i like it, but it is just a short taxi ride to the main shopping area. Food is very good, rooms clean and pool and garden area kept very tidy. The young animation team is excellent and kept us entertained all week. Thanks for a lovely relaxing holiday, will be returning very soon.

We returned this week after 2 weeks at this hotel, we are both pensioners but enjoyed watching the families enjoying themselves. Manly Scandinavians staying for the weeks we were there but all very friendly. The hotel staff were very friendly and helpful, especially Sandra who helped us to get the bus for Mogan, a lovely trip. We travelled back by boat to Puerto Rica, then picked the bus up again. We also did a vip trip to the centre of the island, it was a lovely clear day and could see Mt Tiedi on Teneriffe (100kms), well worth the money.

Room Tip: We requested a sunny room - even numbers, it was a bit noisy from the road but better than the odd n...

We found the hotel a little out of the way but this turned out to be an advantage as Playa Del Inglis is a bit tacky in places. Taxis & buses easily available & cheap. All hotel staff very helpful & friendly. This is an older hotel and there are signs that it needs a little TLC. There is evidence in places that they are working on this but it isnot intrusive.
Our Thomson rep, Michael, was excellent. We booked VIP island tour through him and it is worth every penny.
Food was always good in quantity & quality. our room was on the sunny side, ground floor which ment we had a grassed area outside to sunbath. This also ment a little road noise early morning but nothing that upset us.

A bit late in writing this as we stayed there from 28th November to 3rd December, 2 couples and 2 teenagers.
The transfer was quite good as we had been led to believe it would take a long time, the check was also quick, which was great. The rooms were also fairly nice, although between 3 rooms there was only 1 fridge. Some reviews talk about the stair carpets, yes they are quite tatty and areas of the "blocks" are tired looking but the cleaners are out in force every day.
I can't remember the name of the block we stayed in but it was the one opposite the disco and just up some steps and around the corner from the buffet area. I don't know if it was the time of year, or just our luck as it was pretty windy when we were there, and I'm talking about hold on to your hats when you leave the apartment block until you get around the corner. Our rooms seemed to have it worse than any of the others in other blocks, the wind howled through the ill fitting windows at night, to such an extent ear plugs were needed. That said we had a really nice week. The pool and pool are were really nice (water by slides freezing, the other one a bit warmer), clean and tidy, plenty of sun beds, though some were a bit broken and dirty, was thinking of buying some Mr. Muscle!!
Snacks in the snack bar are OK, a change from the buffet. Food in the buffet is normal for a 3* all inclusive, sometimes better than others, but we never went hungry and always found plenty to eat. There is also some food served there at night too, such as hot dogs and sandwiches etc.
The entertainment area is attached to the buffet area and is quite large, but can fill up pretty quickly. The animation team were surprisingly good, probably the best I have seen for a long, long time, In the day time they were always around but never intrusive or annoying, and at night they were pretty energetic and put on some good shows, we saw "We will rock you" if nothing else it was great to hear some Queen songs, but we did enjoy it.
The big down side of this place is the soft drinks, disgusting is what springs to mind, the cheapest of the cheap and then some, coke! I don't think so, it was like drinking sugared water, as were all the others, the "fruit" juice was also foul. We ended up going to the Supermarket down the road to buy stuff, I think if the bar staff were serving you stuff it might of been slightly better (maybe).
The walk down to the beach was short and the walk around the coast was lovely, you can walk for miles. We also went to the Jumbo Center one night, we've been there loads of times and it hasn't changed, still lots of things going on, and still pretty dark, and still difficult to walk around without guys trying to get you to buy stuff, that can be a bit annoying.
We also went to Porta Mogan on the local bus for the day, an hour and a half to get there and an hour to get back, the driver on the way there was more like a kama kaze pilot, my heart was in my mouth at times, but what a fantastic place, I would highly recommend it, I could quite happily stay there for ever!
All in all we all had a great time (apart from the wind) and we would go back there, probably.

Room Tip: Not in the windy block!

We came back on the 3rd March after 2 weeks at this hotel. It is a 3* so don't expect 5! For 3* it is very clean, the grounds are well kept and pleasant to walk around. The pools are clean and have lifeguards on duty, one pool is heated (please remember it is still an outdoor pool so not like a swimming baths at home). Rooms very clean, bathrooms sometimes need a little upgrade, mostly bath needs re-enamelling but nothing major. Room maids very polite and happy. Family rooms are fairly spacious.

The Tara block is just twin rooms and some people in this block were not happy and asked to be moved. There is a disco below this block on Friday and Saturday nights till 1.30am - can be noisy. However, go in the disco and it is great fun. We had a family room in other blocks overlooking pool which was lovely. Balcony does not get sun in daytime. Rooms were a little cool at night while we were there but that is because the temperature was a little lower than usual and there was a wind blowing.

You pay extra if you want tv, cannot comment on this we do not get it. Safe is one of the most reasonable we have had in Spain, only 2 euros per day. Well worth getting to secure passport, money and valuables.

Beds by pool were plentiful, you could get one any time of day, sit by childrens pool and you are out of the wind if it gets up. Temperature ranged from 19 to 24c over two weeks. Wind could be strong at times , take a cardi!

Entertainment varied, staff tried very hard through the day to please everyone. Entertainment staff are a great bunch, very friendly and warm. Shows at night were varied, some professional and some their own, it depends what you like. Bar staff pleasant and polite.

Restaurant, staff very helpful, work very hard. Food good choice, plenty of it and well cooked. If you go at end of service it may have chilled a little but you can warm it. Go earlier and it is lovely and hot.

Area is easy to get around, a few hills, but taxis are reasonable, bus service around island very cheap and easy to get anywhere. Would recommend the Island VIP trip, a little expensive but well worth it and lunch was excellent. Market easy to get to on bus at Mogan. Defeinitely visit Palmitos Park, very hilly but a beautiful park to visit and walk around. Doplins amazing. Hotel will do a picnic lunch for you to take - free of charge if all inclusive, book day before.

Would definitely recommend this hotel to anyone who wants a nice break, relaxing and easy going, good clean rooms and plenty of good food to eat. All in all an excellent 3*, don't expect anymore.

Room Tip: Try to get a family room and avoid Tara block. E-mail hotel direct and ask for pool view, we did th...
