“Ideal Location - helpful staff”
4 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 26 September 2011

We stayed at Los Tilos for a 4-night holiday to celebrate a friend's birthday. On arrival, Reception was charming and helpful and we were given an apartment on the 4th floor. The apartments are fairly standard Spanish holiday rooms, maybe a little larger than some, nicely, if predictably decorated. The usual two twin narrow beds with basic mattresses, adequate wardrobe space (and hangers) and good size bathroom with bidet and a quite effective shower. The lounge is adequate, with a bed-setteem, and an armchair, coffee table and tv which we didn't use so cqan't comment on that. The kitchen was equipped with a full fridge/freezer and a coffee filter machine. Enough cups, places, saucers, glassware, cutlery and saucepans for three people; and a four-ring electric hob.
The balcony was huge, overlooking the pool and with a distant sea view which was a bonus. It had a table and three chairs and a thinggy for hanging washing or a towel to dry.
There is an on-site restaurant-bar which we didn't use but which seemed popular.
Because Thomas Cook Airlines lost our luggage we were unable to use the pool but it seemed very inviting and well-maintained. There is also a children's pool. There are plentry of sun loungers and sunshades too.
Because of the luggage situation we had to ask the two Receptionists to telephone Thomas Cook's ground agents at Las Palmas Airport several times during our stay and they (the Receptionists) were unfailingly polite, sympathetic and helpful. The duty Receptionist on Sunday morning, when the luggage did eventually make an appearance, seemed almost as delighted as were were!
Because the partments are immediately opposite the Yumbo Centre, we had expected late night noise but there was none - the only thing we heard was the occasional bus - there is a bus stop immediately outside the enhtrace to the apartments, which are directly on the street.
We found the apartments to be better than we expected and we would recommend them to anyone wishing to stay in central Playa del Ingles, close to all the Yumbo has to offer both days and night. Note that there is not a 24-hour reception here, so your room key will open the gates after about 9pm ...

Room Tip: Try not to get rooms on sunken ground floor which are darker and have open balconies overlooking the...

Los Tilos is situated in the heart of the resort, directly opposite the entrance to the Yumbo Centre, but there is no noise problem. The pool area is ideal to relax the day away and you'll find a great lunch in the poolside restaurant.
Apartments are basic but there is everything you need for a holiday.
There's a supermarket just a minutes stroll away, and buses stop right outside. There is Wifi (payable locally), Internet connection in the lobby, and a safe can be rented.
There is a pool table outside the restaurant.

Great location - straight opposite the Yumbo and about 15 mins to the Dunes

Basic clean apartments. Ideal for just sleeping and showering in. Kitchen, bathroom and lounge/bedroom. Sufficient enough things available for a quick snack in the kitchen.

Restaurant onsite that can get takeaway pizza from - ideal for a snack or cheap food for night.

Would recommend and stay there again

Stayed at Los Tilos March 13-27, 2010 (first time there). Did only find out later that my first week was coinciding with the Maspalomas carnival week which has finales and parades in PDI. Nevertheless only had some noise during the last two nights (until 6am though), but overall quiet. Basic room (#511), furniture could use an upgrade but modern clean kitchen, sparsely equiped but with coffeemachine (the only thing I need in the morning anyway). Bathroom was modern and clean, but be aware you need to finish showering in about 5 minutes before the warm water starts to become luke ( I never tested when it became cold). Great roomy balcony with view of the pool, which I never used. TV with several international channels among which CNN (& Dutch, German, Spanish). Remote control be picked up from reception for a deposit (which they skipped for me). No information map with local attractions or dining or other recommendations in the room. That includes no info what the hotel "rules" are. Figure it out yourself from reception (one very helpful and one very grumpy guy). Beds (2 singles) were OK, when you get used to sleep in a single bed again and don't fall out in the middle of the night. Not too hard or soft for me, but to each his own on that one. I did use three pillows though.
Indeed at 07.30 a lot of sunbeds are covered by towels, but since I wasn't using the pool I couldn't be bothered.
Great: location. Entrance to the Yumbo shopping center across the street. Bus and taxi stop in front of the hotel.
Curious: the bedroom had a brand new window in the inside. On the outside the old window was still there and nailed shut. So no fresh air at night.
Also curious: I asked for a iron and iron board. They had the iron, but not the board. I tried shoving the coffee table in front of the TV (where the socket was), use a pillow cover as underground, ironed my best shirts and then came to the conclusion it had been better not to try this at all, seeing the results.
Overall a nice place for a low price, if you do not expect more than the basics. But clean and a good location for those who like the Yumbo. And I haven't seen a cockroach! First time in years staying in PDI.

Stayed in this hotel back in September ,but had already booked this hotel for my second stay in December as well...1st time i went i felt that the holiday i was on suited the hotel as in, i was going out every night getting hammered at the yumbo center (which is literally across the road) in all the gay bars and clubs so just needed sleep and shower and was also put in a room on the side that doesn't face the main road so the first time i went was quite happy, as you get what you pay for and i not expecting anything extraordinary...the second time i went the holiday itself was unfortunately not going to well which was what made my mind up to think this hotel is bad beyond all belief.....one particular member of staff at reception (usually on nights) was just exceptionally ignorant and rude...the room itself was clean ish!! the shower was underpowered and ran out of hot water very quickly then there was the beds there the worst beds ever they are literally camp beds with thick mattresses they are not very wide and very uncomfortable, which makes for a very sleepless night.....all the rooms that face the yumbo have have inner double glazing fitted over the existing windows with does dull the noise from the cars, drunks (me included) loud buses and general noise so if you get to stay in any rooms from 1 to 10 on any floor it'll be noisy from 11 to 20 much better stay but its just the beds so so bad.......try the riu Flamingo or the Margaretta bit more money but worth every penny as I've stayed there as well....oh and PS don't fall in love with a local only for it all to come crashing down when you leave :-)

Just back from Los Tilos, Playa Del Ingles after a fantastic week away with my boyfriend..Stayed there about 5 years ago.. But this time was much better. Temps between 25-35C.
We booked via 1800hotels.com and paid under €150.00 for 1 week self-catering and transferred to hotel with A2btransfers.com (paid under €35 both ways for the 2 of us) Flights with aerlingus.

The 2 star apts are located across from the Yumbo Centre and buses run regularly to all the other towns and attractions (ie Palmitos Park, Aqualand etc) and a taxirank across the road. Regardless of this you couldnt really here the traffic!!

Apartments were extremely clean, servicing 3-4 times per week. It consisted of 1 twin-bedroom, bathroom kitchen/lounge and a balcony overlooking the pool. The views were lovely as they werent overlooked by others, which seemed to be the case throughout playa del Ingles. No fan or air-con in apartments which would have been great. However we bought a fan for €20. The electrical sockets in the lounge and bedroom were old-spanish ones so the more modern spanish plugs didnt fit..which was a bit annoying.. Other than that no faults very clean, spacious. No toaster & kettle but you can get over that for the price paid. Shower was briliant(great power)

Staff were friendly-spoke good english. The other guests were Italian, German, Sottish, Welsh. A lot of Spanish residents which was good because we wanted to completely get away..and they were quiet enough. Los Tilos welcomes gays, lesbians, heterosexuals. The pool was a good size, clean and probably one of the best ive been in when abroad!!! There is a restaurant attached to the apartments, we never ate in it, the menu did seem limited.

All in all..would recommend and would go back to the apartments. For the price we paid and the standard of the rooms-was perfect. Just reserve your sunbed early!!!!!!!!
