Description: Situated on a bluff overlooking the Guadalupe River, this spectacular restaurant nestled under the shade of towering oak trees has been the perfect getaway for a unique casual dining experience for thirty years. Located in the historic district of Gruene just beneath the famous Gruene water tower, we opened in 1977, serving steaks and hamburgers from a tiny kitchen in the corner of the building. Our menu still features thick steaks and large hamburgers, but the restaurant also serves up popular South Texas fare like chicken fried steak, fried catfish, grilled chicken, enormous sandwiches, fresh fish and special dishes like tomatillo chicken and bronzed catfish. Fudge pie, the enormous strawberry shortcake and our signature Jack Daniel's Pecan Pie are famous desserts. A full bar with a good wine list and fresh squeezed lime margaritas are also big hits.

We love this area, but usually visit in the summer. It was a cool night, but very nice to walk around and the outdoor area was sufficiently heated.

Stopped here as part of our Sunday outing to Gruene. Even with the crowds, we got an outside table within 10 minutes. Husband's T-bone was perfection and my steak salad was sumptuous. Server was helpful and spot-on with her recommendations. Well worth the drive to see this historic town of Greune. Stop by the Music Hall after dinner-great Texas music.

Great space, view and location.  Service is very good.  The food is average (although above average for the area) yet consistent.  A bit pricey, but it is a destination.  In short, don't miss it!  Have a drink in their wonderful bar.  Buy a t-shirt!

Best food and service in New Braunfels. Great river views from some outside tables. Large fireplaces and open-air dining indoors. Music outside and is next to Gruene Hall.
