The Resort at Schlitterbahn
Ranked #2 of 33 Hotels in New Braunfels
Certificate of Excellence
Reviewed 28 July 2011

Reasons we booked this room:
Ability to cancel and receive refund
Convenience of room/resort location
Kitchenette
On site laundry facility
Great "stay and play" ticket prices

Reasons we wished we hadn't booked this room:
Dirty floors (black feet)
A/C problems
Water outage for over 1 hour
Trains, trains, trains...
Training lifeguards using resort pool

Resort at Bahn (room 326).
Prices of the rooms near the train should not be the same prices as other rooms.  There should be "train perks" for these guests.  If employees were made to sleep 2 nights in these rooms they would be more understanding.  From 9pm to 7am random trains blew their horns.  Our last night 3 blew their horn from 5:00am to 6:30am. We have never been so sleep deprived from a vacation.
We have never stayed in a room where we had lessons from the maintenance man on how to go   outside to the A/C unit and fix the  tripped braker.  The fan in the indoor closet stayed on, but our outdoor A/C tripped off 3 times during our stay.
Even with the "stay and play" ticket prices and convenience of room to park location,$259 per night was not worth it.
If you decide to book this resort I would recommend:
*paper goods (no dishwasher in our room)
*Ask for extra towels because they do not freshen up rooms until after 4pm when they are finished with the guest rooms that are scheduled to arrive for that day
*$1 to wash, $1 to dry at onsite laundry facility
*ear plugs and/or sleeping pills
*extra socks so your feet stay clean
*pack swim shoes or purchase for $12 at resort or souvenir shop
*pack plenty of sunscreen, don't  forget to reapply ;)
*get new wrist bands by 8am at resort office so you do wait in line when you arrive at park each day
*if you are taking advantage of playing 1 hour early at Blastenhoff we found it easier to drive and park instead of waiting for buses to take you
*if you are able to arrive by 8:30am at Blastenhoff do not waste your money on a cabana we had no problem finding a table and chairs in the shade (remember to put your towels in your chairs if you don't want to lose them)
*$9  locker for your valuables with a $2 credit (or souvenir cup) with return of key
When we decide to visit the park again we will not stay onsite unless we are away from the train tracks (book well in advance for these).
With the exception of our room, we had a wonderful time playing at Schlitterbahn and look forward to the new rides they are planning to open any time now.

We stayed one night at the old section of the park (room 200) and the beds were comfortable enough. The room is very old and the carpet was filthy and disgusting. I can't imagine why they have carpet in a room where people are coming in wet, but they do. The room had a frig and micro which was handy. Be forewarned that there is a train track nearby and the trains blow their whistles loudly all night long. Staying inside the park has some great perks like the "stay and play" discount and early entry to the park at 9am. That was well worth it. I would stay there again but next time I will ask if there is a room with tile instead of carpet. And I will bring earplugs!

We had a one bedroom/two bath cottage with kitchenette. The room was filthy gross. Would never walk barefoot in that room. The people in the neighboring "cottage" were the bottom of the food chain...speaking of chain, they chain smoked and drank beer out on the patio all night both nights and only took a short break from that to scream at their children. It made getting any sleep rather difficult. The park was okay in some parts then disgusting in the food areas and some pools were nasty. We got in the hot tub area with the bar only to look down and see a used bandage floating in the water and lots of dead bugs floating around. I never did see a employee clean the water in any pool or attraction. Couldn't get out of there fast enoough. The christmas store was nice and the on site pizza delivery was actually really good. Not that it matters...you couldn't PAY ME to stay there again. Go to The Great Wolf Lodge in Dallas. It is clean. Enough said.

Room Tip: Get a room somewhere else. Do not stay at the

First impression as i walk in was dirty. Floors not swept & mopped, air conditioner closet would not close (lock broke) which was very dirty. I was uncomfortable the entire stay. This is a good location but needs updating and better cleaning crew

We stayed here July 5 and 6 (Tuesday and Wednesday) and would recommend "The Resort" for the following reasons:

1) Their "unlimited stay and play" package. Instead of purchasing a two-day pass, as Resort guests we could use the park from the time we checked in Tuesday (1 p.m.) 'til the waterpark closed on Wednesday for $25/person.

2) Early entry at the newest section: Blastenhoff. Resort guests can enter this portion of the park at 9 a.m. We got there around 8:20, parked, and were the first in line to enter. My son and I were actually the first ones down the MasterBlaster.

3) Quick exchange of wristbands. Before heading to the newest part for the 9 a.m. opening, we exchanged out our wristbands at the front desk. This undoubtedly allowed us to be first in line.

4) Cordial, kind, and helpful employees. The only grumpy/unhelpful person in the front desk area we encountered was the girl behind the season pass counter.

5) Early check-out rebate. If you can organize yourselves to check out of the room by 9:30 (I think), they will refund you $15. A no-brainer for us, as we were up and ready to play all day. This rebate makes the room price more reasonable. We didn't want our morning interrupted by having to go back to the room to check out. There are changing areas all over the park.

6) Just don't expect a "resort". It's more like national park lodging ~ two beds, TV, mini-fridge, microwave, chair, and bathroom. Neutrogena products are provided. No noisy neighbors where we were ~ just intermittent train whistles!

The proximity of this hotel, along with the points outlined above, make this a positive option for your visit.

This is the 2nd time I have been here. It is the BEST value for fun at the waterpark. The rooms are clean. They are older but VERY clean. I don't worry about the beds or floors. The service is awesome! Initially it seemed a bit pricey but once you factor it all in it's a GREAT place to go to enjoy the park!

The price may seem steep, but if you're visiting Schlitterbahn as your destination, the only way to go is to stay on property instead of one of the hotels closer to highway. It's the only place I'll stay when I visit. The house we rented was very well furnished, including some newer appliances, though some of the furniture and bedding was older, as to be expected at such resorts where the emphasis is more on what's outside of the room! The front desk staff was efficient and friendly, the reservations staff was incredibly helpful and the house was exceptionally clean. The best part, of course, is waking up inside the confines of the world's greatest and most unique waterpark, which should be experienced by all, even those who are not generally fans of the water.
