“Very convenient and comfortable”
4 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 29 April 2012

My family with two small children stayed here for a long weekend getaway. Each room is decorated in a particular airplane theme. Ours room was the Stearman room which had two queen beds, a mini-fridge, and a microwave. Our room was located directly across from the outdoor pool and hot tub.

Breakfast consists of your choice of muffins, croissants, juices, fruit cups, and coffee. You place your order when you check in and each morning of your stay breakfast is placed outside your door in a container by 7a.m. The breakfast was was delivered on time and was very tasty!

The room had two comfortable queen beds with a table with two chairs in the front of the room and another work desk with a chair. The toilet/shower room was small, but adequate. The sink and vanity were located in the main room. The room had a flat panel TV with a good choice of channels and a DVD player. The room was very quiet. I never heard any of the other guests even though the hotel was sold out on our second night.

The pool is a good size for families with smaller kids (not too big). The shallow end is 3.5 feet deep and it goes to 5 feet in the deep end. There is a deck with several lounge chairs and tables surrounding the pool along with a hot tub. There is also an outdoor grill next to the pool that can be used by the guests.

The hotel is located right on the main road through Port Aransas and is near many local restaurants and beach shops. There is a grocery store just down the street as well as a Whataburger. The hotel is about 2 minutes from the ferry landing and about 2 minutes from the beach. The free parking area at the I. B. Magee Beach Park is just down the street from the hotel.

Hi All,

We really appreciate this wonderful review -- the guests who posted this were wonderful folks -- but just wanted to let everyone know that this room (and many other rooms, too) received new beds in late April, shortly after this guest departed.

This was part of our systematic upgrade program, and had nothing to do with this guest's experience. That room now sports two brand, new queen sized pillow topped beds!

Had we known that this guest was anything but ecstatic with the existing beds, we could have moved up the delivery date. Ironically, we were waiting for them to leave, so as not to disrupt their stay with furniture movers, etc.

We always strive for perfection. If you ever have an issue with anything during your stay, please let us know and we will do everything possible to address the issue.

Blue skies,

My wife and I stayed here for a month and our main regret was that we could not stay longer. The room was very nice and clean and priced more than reasonably, especially since we got the Winter Texan rate, This place is very centrally located to everything and the beach is a short 5 blocks--grocery store 1 block, Talk about convenience, Jay and Mary were very attentive to our needs and Lorna, our room straighten-upper :>) gave us great tips also. You can catch a trolley right out the door and go most anyplace in the city limits or just take a short walk.
Our beds were a little saggy and old but in all fairness to Jay and Mary we did not mention this during our stay. We figured they are busy updating their new hotel and can only do so much at once. We absolutely love this place!!
Our favorite place to eat was Avery's Kitchen--all around great place for down home cooking.
We went to Robert's Point and saw the Dolphins everyday. We did not have our car with us and yet had no problem getting around from Amelia's Landing. Wife and I are checking our schedule for 2013, 'cause we definitely want to stay here for 2 months if possible.

The breakfast is continental but good and fresh. Front door didn't latch but dead bolt worked. Owners were very helpful with places to eat, the beach, and sightseeing activities. They did not resolve an annoying dog problem. It barked for hours probably because the owners left it in the room by itself. So sad for the dog. The mattresses were hard so bring a foam topper. Overall, the motel was clean and convenient but had a couple of issues. Next rating could be tops!

Room Tip: Check on the pet policy and bed comfort.

Just to clarify a few things about the issue with the barking dog, please note that:

a. This guest didn't tell us about the dog barking until she was checking out. Had we known about it, we would have addressed it at once. We do NOT allow barking dogs in our hotel, ever.

b. We were told that the dog was barking while the guest was trying to take an afternoon nap. This incident did not occur during quiet evening hours -- a time when we would have detected it.

One of the risks of having pet-friendly rooms is that the pets will be left unattended. Our policy is to call the master of any unruly dog -- we always get cell phone numbers from pet owners -- and have them return to the hotel at once. If this does not resolve the issue, the guests are asked to leave. The comfort of our human guests always comes before that of any pets.

If you have any questions regarding our pet policies, please feel free to contact us.

Blue skies,

I have stayed at this hotel before and after the ownership switch. Before, it was a decent hotel, especially for the price. When Jay and Mary bought Harbor Inn and turned into Amelia's Landing, it became a great hotel.

All the rooms have a different aviation theme, which is neat. We stayed in a dog-friendly room two night for our wedding in October 2011. The owners were very nice and friendly. You get a few choices for breakfast (croissants, donuts, juice, etc.) and they set it outside your room in the morning. I am also pretty sure there was a coffee pot and coffee available in our room.

The bed and linens were of good quality and we slept very well. The pool and hot tub were both clean and well received.

All in all, Amelia's Landing is a very nice hotel and I recommend it to anyone who stays in Port A.

Room Tip: Ask the owners about what type of room you should get; there are smaller and larger rooms available...

I have to be honest, we decided to stay here because my husband is a pilot and this recently renovated funky hotel is aviation-themed. We were NOT disappointed ... I especially loved the breakfast they leave at your door each morning in a plastic container ... what an awesome idea. You don't have to worry if you sleep in that all the good food will be gone and you can eat in your jammies! Extremely clean and fresh, but don't kid yourself, it's not the Hilton and the price reflects that ... worth every penny. The only thing I could complain about is that the mattress was a bit to firm for me, but my husband didn't mind. We will very much recommend this cute place ... remember, Port A is funky in itself and this is just blocks from the best restaurants and the beach.

Room Tip: If you plan to stay awhile, there are several rooms with full kitchens.

There is nothing bad that I can say about Amelia's Landing. I went down to Port A to meet some friends from high school, and ended up staying for almost 3 weeks! Buy one night, get one night FREE!!! It was a very enjoyable stay! Clean rooms, very close to the beach and restaurants, and my favorite part....you DON'T have to make yourself presentable to rush off to a "communal" breakfast by 9 or 10 a.m. every morning....your breakfast is delivered to your door by 7 a.m.!!!! The owners are awesome, and are right there on the premises if you have any questions about Port A or where to go to do whatever!! Oh...and they rent out their rooms BY THE MONTH for WInter Texans for a super low price!! I'm hoping to be one of those Winter Texans next year :) No other hotel on the Island can beat this place!! Believe me!! I've checked into ALL of them! I ♥ Amelia's Landing ( it was still Harbor Inn when I originally stayed there....before all of their renovations were completed).....can't wait to see it now!

My friend set up this trip, and really enjoyed staying at Amelia's Landing. The decor was real classic, all the rooms have an avaition connection. Super clean rooms. Everyone went out of there way to make sure our stay was excellent. Had a courtesy car for us at the airport. Will be making plans on staying again, come springtime, also has fishing guide service. We didn't limited out, but did really great.
