We've been coming here for two winters now and the food and service are still top notch. We love steak night best of all. The music is relaxing and very good.

Great place for cold beer & shrimp.
The shrimp are fresh, and there is live music.

IT IS somewhat dated, and dark inside.
The restroom could be renovated...

The service was good and friendly.
I would return.

We had a party of 20 and the server didn't give us any grief about splitting the ticket 5 ways. He provided outstanding, friendly, accurate service.

My husband had the steak tacos and I had the veggie tacos. We shared the chocolate cake and also had margaritas. Everything was fantastic! The veggies were fresh and not drenched in oil. Such a treat!

The live music was really good as well. Great atmosphere overall

We had the most wonderful, delicious Christmas buffet. This is our first Christmas in South Padre. This was also our first time to eat at Padre Rita's. The restaurant was very busy. We were greeted with happy people eager to make our Christmas dinner a great one. The food was delicious and even though they were very busy, everyone was very festive. I can't say enough about how impressed we were with the food and service. The atmosphere, was also wonderful. We really enjoyed the Christmas decorations and Christmas music while we ate. We will definitely eat here again.

We were a big party of 10. While we
were seated almost immediately (thanks to the hostess with red hair), it took a looong time for them to come ask us for our order. To be fair, the hostess told us that it would take a long time since they were busy.

We went to the bar to get our drinks, and the bartender was clearly frazzled. She took over 20 mins to make our drinks and forgot our order a couple of times as she was dealing with multiple orders. Clearly, they were short staffed but the drinks were well made.

They gave us only 1 menu for the table so it took a long time to actually choose our dishes. The appetizers were ok - shrimp cocktail is huge but too sweet. Not recommended. No silverware came so I had to go fetch it from another table. We wanted veggie nachos but the beans had meat and they didn't offer to replace it or add chicken to it so the non vegetarians could eat that. No big deal.

The food was inconsistent - chicken tacos & fajita steak were good but the vegetarian dishes were not good. Our server, Lisa, was sweet. And the busser was also nice. But overall service left a lot to be desired.

They overcharged us on the clam chowder - the server claimed it was a larger portion, which we didn't order. There was no such option for a larger portion on the menu. They also charged for an entree that they hadn't brought us at all, and Lisa happily took it off the cheque.

The desserts were fairly good. An 18% mandatory service charge took care of the tip.

I should have rated it poor but I gave it an average because some dishes were good, and some of the staff members really made us feel welcome.
