What a great dinner & the atmosphere was perfect for our New Years Eve Dinner. The food was delicious and so was our dessert. Hope to someday go back and also stay in their Inn

Simply the best restaurant in Bennington. In a half dozen evenings, we have never had anything less than choice.

The porch off the bar is great for a sundown cocktail and the dining rooms and tables are beautifully appointed.

We were staying at the inn and were thrilled with our dinner there. I had a most unusual and delicious Acorn Squash vegetarian entree that was the perfect balance of vegetable-apple-cheese and just the right hint of sweetness. My husband orders rack of lamb whenever possible and he was convinced that this was one of the best he had had in years. This quaint Vermont restaurant can hold it's own with some of LA's best in our opinion. We loved it. Charming and elegant dining room (without being stuffy.)

We often eat at the Four Chimneys but always for special occasions because we love the atmosphere and the food is excellent. 5 of us were there on Friday and everyone loved their meals. I had the duck, which I always have. It was super. The owners are very friendly and the service is top notch. They have a bunch of incredible desserts to choose from. We are lucky to have them in Bennington. They are also an inn and many of our guests have stayed there in the past when we had weddings and parties. It's a beautiful Victorian House in a traditional New England setting with lots of acreage.

I did not stay at the Inn and was recommended to go the restaurant from our inn keeper. I also checked the Four Chimney's reviews under the Bed and Breakfast section and everyone gave it good ratings, so I thought that the restaurant would be a good bet. Big mistake. We had the baked brie en croute and duck strudel and cranberry salad for appetizers. The baked brie looked like it came pre-prepared, the compote on the side didn't look homemade. The duck strudel was okay. The salad greens were wilted, drowned in dressing and the whole thing wasn't very fresh. For main courses we had the rack of lamb, Chilean Sea Bass, lobster ravioli and the steak. The sea bass stunk, clearly it wasn't fresh fish, the piece was not a nice fillet as you would get in a good quality restaurant but a thin piece. The lobster ravioli barely had any lobster in them -again I think that they were pre-fab with a jar sun dried tomato sauce that killed the pasta -for $25.00 it was outrageous, I could have gotten better in the frozen food section of my grocery store. The steak was of poor quality, tough and no flavor -Outback Steakhouse would have been a vast improvement. The rack of lamb was okay, again not good quality meat and for $35 or $37 a plate, it should have been top notch. We did tell our server that the food was poor and were offered a free dessert but we didn't take them up on it as the meal was so poor that we wouldn't want to eat any more. We were told but cannot verify that the owner is now working in the kitchen-perhaps the inn should consider hiring an outside chef.
