We stay in Vermont several times a year and this time we stayed at the Hugging Bear Inn
in Chester. Laura and her family are wonderful people and welcomed us into their home as if we had known each other for years. The turret bedroom was small but very comfortable.
There is no TV in the room, but we didn't come to Vermont to watch TV. The TV is in the
living room along with a musical corner with a big teddy sitting at the piano and old vintage
instruments hanging on the wall.
They also have their bear shop at the other end of the house. It was fun browsing through the shop and seeing such a variety of bears. My husband found a gray bear that he just had to have and is now displayed proudly on our bed at home. There was a teddy bear on our bed at the inn and teddy bear theme in the bathroom. Laura's brother Paul cooks the breakfasts. Ask for his French toast. Very yummy especially with Grade C pure dark maple syrup. There is also a variety of dry cereals including gluten free and coffees, tea, etc.
The inn is right across from the village green where there are wonderful shops and restaurants to enjoy. The Bondville Boys performed blue grass on the lawn of the historical society which is right next door to the inn. We sat on the porch and had a great view of the concert.
We're coming back in the fall, but this time we're staying in a larger room. Just a personal preference for us.
