A big group of us (nearly 50 in all) rented the entire place. I must say that rhe rooms were small and not all of them had their own bathroom. The furniture and kitchen appliances were old. But the Riverside Inn worked wonderfully well for our group. The adults could move about freely and not worry about spilling their beer. The kids could run around making noise. You could throw your gear on the lobby floor and not worry that you were doing something wrong. You could watch TV, play cards at the living room table, hang out in the kitchen or discuss the day's skiing on a couch in front of the fire.

The owners Julian and Kay were genial hosts ready to try to accommodate our requests.

The drive to the Stowe ski resort took only 10 minutes up the Mountain Road. A shuttle passes every 20 minutes.

So while it isn't fancy, I would recommend the Riverside Inn for any group wanting a congenial place to stay.

Better places than this! Soooo smelly, muddy outside & outdated furniture. Old duvets & carpets.Needs some dollars invested in it desperately! Go elsewhere. Pleasant owners though.

This is a low end budget hotel so if your priorities are skiing and spending time with friends instead of sleeping, the Riverside is the place for you. Bed was OK and fortunately I had a room with a private bath. The room was tiny with no place for a suitcase but on the floor and I had to move the night table around to get light to read by the bed. The place is noisy with thin walls and most of the Inn rooms face the road with constant traffic. Good thing I sleep well with earplugs. Downstairs has a nice fireplace with couches and pool table.

I stayed here in September whilst I was travelling through with a group on a Trek America trip.
I can't remember their names but the couple who own the house are very helpful and welcoming. We were a relatively large group but felt totally welcome and had a great time.
There are plenty of rooms with a variety of room types (double beds, single beds etc).

Located in a beautiful area not too far from shops, pubs and restaurants. Although the weather was not very forgiving when we were there, bikes were on offer free of charge if we wanted to use them, Also a number of maps and information was readily available.

There was 1 or 2 rooms that had en suites, the others shared bathrooms but that was no problem for us.

Kitchen, living room and dining area were perfect for us.
Overall I had a fantastic time. very homely and relaxing!
Definitely would come back if I was ever in the beautiful area of Stowe!

My husband and I found this property while searching for pet-friendly accomodations so we could bring our pug on vacation. The rooms that allow pets are in the motel that is situated right behind the Inn. The innkeepers were very friendly and had our room ready a bit early so we were able to check in when we arrived in VT. The room and bathroom were clean. Everything in the room was outdated and little shabby, but for the price, it's what I expected. It was roomy and comfortable and we only used the room for sleeping anyway. The mini fridge and microwave were a nice surprise and the fridge came in handy. Another nice feature were the bikes that were chained outside, available for guest use. Since the Inn is right on the recreation path, they came in handy. We had to try out a few bikes before we found ones that had good air in the tires and worked properly (they get a little beat up by the end of the season), but the innkeepers got out the air pump from the garage, so we were able to pump the tires up. We spent a little over 2 hours riding the recreation path and stopping for photos and such, so it was very convenient to not have to worry about rental fees. The innkeepers were also considerate and did not vaccuum the room while we were out, since they didn't want to scare our dog who was in her crate when they came to clean. A warning though - the walls in the motel are very thin. We could hear the children running around and talking in the room next door and every time someone walked by outside, we could hear entire conversations. Overall though. it was a good stay and a convenient location, so we might go back.
