Took my 2 1/2 year old grandson to Walney Pond in E.C. Lawrence Park. We had a great time. Watched 2 pair of Canada geese. Walked around the pond. Splashed in the water with a big stick. Good stuff for a little boy and his grandfather. This summer we will go fishing. Also nice creek near by.

Such nice and remote trails (despite the geographic location near I-66 and Rt 28). Perfect location for family photos!

If you want a peaceful walk following the trail in the forest after a hard work day or week, then this is your heaven. No one will interrupt your interaction with the nature yet you can feel safe. The park staffs do a great job to maintain the nature along the trail and the forest itself. They used the material provided by the forest to make rails, steps. There was also a fireplace for camping in groups.

ECL Park is truly an oasis in the middle of suburbia. Route 28/Sully Road runs through it. On one side, there are baseball and soccer/football fields and a playground which are all well used. On the other, there are several easy hiking trails, both through woods and through meadows, picnic areas, a visitors's center, an amphitheater, a renovated mill, and a pond. This area also provides an opportunity to take a walk back in time. From Walney Visitor's Center, you can take a short trail past the ruins of a dairy, an ice house, and a smokehouse. There are bee hives, and a garden that contains modern and heirloom plants. It is a very peaceful place. For locals, the park also provides numerous programs for children and adults. My kids have spent many happy hours here learning about the flora and fauna and the history. They love visiting this park.
