This is a beautiful and peaceful park with fairly well-maintained trails. I walk or jog through the park at least six times a month. The pond at the southern end of the park is very nice. Years ago my daughter caught a bass there. The visitor center features a Civil War-era house and farm with a working garden and remnants of the dairy and ice house, as well as other parts of the farmstead visible. Informative signage add to the experience. This park is one of the true gems of the county and one of my favorite places to decompress and enjoy nature. If you live in the Chantilly/Centreville area, make it a point to visit!!

I frequently walk the trails and ball field area of EC Lawrence. The trails are well kept, and a nice walk in a suburban environment. I see woodpeckers, hawks, bluejays, deer, foxes, and sometimes turkeys on my walks. It's a testament to "adaption" in nature that all this wildlife can co-exist with the constant roar of planes on approach to Dulles. It's not Skyline drive, Great Smokies, but it's a nice little slice of nature that's close by.

A couple of weekends ago when the weather was nice, my husband and I drove over to take a hike at the park.

We started out and did the small loop and then went back and did the larger loop for a total of 4 miles. There are a lot of roots along the trail so you have to watch where you are walking, but overall it was a good experience.

On busier days parking could be full.

Took my 2 1/2 year old grandson to Walney Pond in E.C. Lawrence Park. We had a great time. Watched 2 pair of Canada geese. Walked around the pond. Splashed in the water with a big stick. Good stuff for a little boy and his grandfather. This summer we will go fishing. Also nice creek near by.
