We celebrated a delicious dinner for a family member in this lovely restaurant in an historic inn dating back to 1780. The staff was very friendly and cordial and the food was delicious. The only part of the meal that was lacking was the salad, which was a plate of green lettuce. The salmon was delicious and so was the special birthday dessert. It was dark outside during dinner and we returned a few days later in order to take some photos during the day. Dinner is served Wed. - Sun. and reservations are recommended. We've eaten here at times when the restaurant was full. It's an excellent place for special occasions. Highly recommended.

We enjoyed the fine dining experience. It was charming and romantic and the food was very good. The steak was so flavorful and tender although the broccoli rabe was so seasoned that it competed with the flavors of the beef. The cranberry bread pudding was delicious and different. The soups are quite interesting and very good as well.

We loved this place. When you combine, a handsome historic setting, tasteful decor, good food, and extraordinarily accommodating and unpretentious staff, you have a real find. The Silver Thatch Inn has authentic character. Our group from DC and south of Charlottesville felt very welcomed and we will be back. Haven't stayed there yet, but some guests told us they were very pleased with their rooms.

We happened on this place by chance, but what a lucky find! The food and service were outstanding - one of the best meals we've ever had anywhere. We had a starter salad of beets, smoked trout, sour cream and greens that was perfectly balanced and absolutely delicious. The special that night was a grouper, served with a sauce that complimented it wonderfully. My partner had the rack of lamb; she proclaimed it to be the best lamb she's ever eaten anywhere. The atmosphere, the friendly and informative service, and the superb food all combined to make this a truly memorable evening.
