Recently stayed in one of the 2-bedroom cottages and had a wonderful time. We were looking for a comfortable, quiet place to take our 2-year-old and dog, and that is exactly what we found. The cabin we stayed in was simply decorated and fairly clean. The only small complaint we had was that the bath towels had a very strong and disturbing garlic odor to them. Perhaps someone forgot to wash them or they got mixed in with something else. We did not let it bother us as the rest of the trip was fine, plus we convinced our daughter that we were "camping." Other than that, the cabin was great and in a very quiet and secluded location. We had a great time looking out onto the lake, walking the dog around the property, and enjoying a nice spring evening on the covered porch. If you are looking for a place to explore Charlottesville and all of the wonderful surrounding communities, to include Skyline Drive, then definitely consider Montfair.

Montfair Cabins

My wife and I stayed here for 3 nights in October. This very eco conscious Farm is located in a attractive rural location some 5 minutes drive from the small town of Crozet and about 30 minutes drive from Charlottesville. The resort has about 6 cabins including a rather quaint A – Frame Cabin which we stayed in. This is a rustic wood cabin overlooking a lake through the trees. Quite compact and secluded. Adequate size bedroom with queen bed. Two single beds on mezzanine but access only by quite narrow steep stairs. Studio bed/sofa in lounge area. Would be extremely cramped if all beds were used in cabin. Studio sofa not particularly comfortable to use as sofa especially if sitting during evening. Faces patio window but evening time when dark just looking at dark window or curtains drawn not good. Would benefit from re-organising space in room to more comfortable setting. Kitchen, dining and living area all in one room. Cabin well stocked with equipment including freezer, fridge, microwave. Cabin has use of canoes on the lake.
Veranda on the A-Frame has barbecue and seating although if raining unable to sit out. Howver other larger cabins do have larger cover porch. All cabins hase a large picnic table in front, also a hammock to rest on. Bathroom could be better. A very quaint cabin ideal for a weekend stay but no longer. The nearby lodge does have parties and wedding receptions held so sometimes the loud music is heard in the cabins. Out of 3 nights stay, 1 night we heard evening party but the noise only lasted until around 11 pm.

A fairly large bulky gas fire which was very noisy when used.
Convenient to Wineries and to Monticello (Home of Thomas Jefferson and well worth a visit) also at Crozet there is the excellant Crozet Pizza Parlour - again well worth visit
