This Comfort Inn gets high marks! Nice front desk staff for check in, clean and comfortable room. Modest facility but well kept. EASY walking distance to all kinds of restaurants, liquor store, Safeway in nearby shopping centers. Breakfast was nicely done- eggs, sausage, waffles, cereals, yogurts, etc. Recommended! About 12 minute drive to IAD or take the free shuttle.

We stay here about 4 times a year to and from Dulles flights. We call, from the airport and they come and pick us up - usually a 10-20 minute wait. Then, check-in and sign up for the shuttle back to the airport (you must sign up for the shuttle or gamble that when you want to go it 1) will be running and 2) it won't be full).

We have always had very nice people behind the desk, and have always liked our rooms. The rooms are pretty large, the beds are very comfy,. a/c can freeze you out (but the windows do not open) The bathrooms are older, but are clean, with plenty of counter space to put your toiletries. One weird issue is the slant of the sink. You cannot make a slippery bar of soap stay on the faucet lip; it always suicides into the sink. And, the sinks are high, not recessed into the countertop. So, we have to put it on the countertop where it is not handy in the middle of the night as we fumble around for it. But, this is small potatoes. As my main squeeze says, "Hey, at least you have soap." 'Nuff said.

We find the lobby perfectly inviting, with a cold case to buy soft drinks, a table to hold a number of coffee carafes (yay!), and a wide area near the entry with couches and chairs.

Plenty of parking, and the BEST is this hotel's location near quite a number of restaurants you can walk to. Sports bar next door, with a great manager who always bends over backwards to accommodate with a larger salad or a rare hamburger or a killer gin & tonic. The other way is a very good Italian restaurant, and an Outback Steak house whose bar often finds us ensconced for a jet-lagged dinner (great red bottle of wine). Across the street is a Thai place, and a couple to 4 blocks away are a number of other restaurants. The restaurants are increasing in number, always a good thing, so you should be able to find what you want and are willing to walk to. We do get "close by" vibes in the winter months.

We have used the breakfast a couple of times. Basic, but usually just what you expect. Always a bit distressing to see that everything you use is a throwaway, plates, cutlery, cups. Understandable, though.

There are a couple of convenience stores in the strip with the Italian and Outback restaurants. And, there were also a couple of new small eateries, including a noodle shop.

All in all, we like this hotel very much. Close to the airport but affordable. And, a shuttle that leaves when it says it will, no small blessing. We will be back.

Room Tip: The rooms are either east- or west-facing. If you want to sleep in, as for a west-facing room.

This is a nice hotel near Dulles airport with a free shuttle to and from the airport. Nice location with a bar next door. There is also a 7/11 and a stekhouse close by. Old town Herndon is not that far away. It took me 20 minutes to walk to Jimmy´s Old Town Tavern

Although the rooms are clean and well appointed; there are no towel bars in the bathroom and the toilet didn’t work very well. The front lobby is dim and not very welcoming and the breakfast room is way too small for the size of the hotel. This hotel does have a great location and the staff is accommodating.

Positives
Check in went well and the room and bathroom were clean but most importantly the room was quiet and we had a good night’s sleep. The breakfast was the usual cereals, toast, buns and fruit and yogurt, adequate but nothing award winning.

Negatives
As with most hotels the whole building looked well used and tired but it isn’t a major problem, the rooms were still good value for the money.

Overall opinion
I would recommend this hotel for an overnight or short stay and will return again if passing.

Tips
There is a fast food area at Hernden Center A few blocks down Elden Rd with lots of different choices. We tried the Chinese buffet but it was awful with cold food on the menue.
