Beware Morven Park! I and my family (along with many others) had traveled hours to the Leesburg, VA area so my son could participate in a lacrosse tournament at this place. Ostensibly, due to rain the previous day and some mist that morning, the Morven Park owner closed the fields that my son and the teams were to play on AS TEAMS WERE ARRIVING. We were actually told of the cancellation a few minutes before our target show time by some shady-looking people standing at the park entrance — maybe park “employees.” Apparently the park owner couldn’t think far enough ahead to cancel the tournament the previous afternoon/evening so families could avoid driving 2-3 hours one way and spending $$ on hotels, fuel, etc. I guess Morven Park was worried about 12 year old boys putting undue wear and tear on its cherished “well-maintained” blue grass and Bermuda grass playing fields. Thanks for a great family and team experience, Morven Park! For those considering holding an event at this place, look elsewhere.

Lovely park. Horse grounds nearby. Toured the Hounds and Hunting Museum. Loved it! Park is pet friendly to dogs on a leash.

Very large and well maintained public facility. Take the time to walk around, especially up to the mansion. A very lovely place.

We did not have time to take the tour of the imposing mansion but we enjoyed a long walk around the grounds, admiring the well kept (though hardly extensive) gardens, and visiting the equestrian center. I was particularly impressed with the gorgeous trees all over the property and the arboreal pathways passing beneath many of them. Hiking trails in the woods and hills behind the mansion were inviting. It was interesting to view the various types of cross-country steeplechase jumps, each different in design and all seemingly quite unyielding and challenging to the horse and rider. Morven Park has good interior roadways, ample parking, clean and substantial restroom accommodation.

We came here on the last tour that occurred during the week, because during the school year it is closed and is open only for weekends. The small museum about the hunt, hounds & horses was pretty boring, but the mansion tour was very interesting. Our tour guide Anna was very knowledgeable and informative. The mansion is really nice and is big. The history of the mansion is very extensive and complex and is worth the visit. It is shocking how beautiful and big it is and no one really seems to go there. The park is very empty. It was the highlight of our daytrip to Leesburg. This is a great place to go because the town of Leesburg isn't really very interesting itself, so this is a great destination.
