I love to go jogging here with my daughter. The path is safe and open and great for biking as well. If you want a nice place for just a casual walk I highly recommend the scenery on the trail

Love this place wish we had more trails throughout Va. I enjoy it as much as my dogs do they could walk forever and so many people to visit with.

RiverWalk starts along Riverfront Park through historic downtown Lynchburg. This section of downtown has a variety of places to grab bite to eat or a drink -- including many craft beers from local breweries.
You then cross over to Percival's Island, a beautiful natural area with paved trails. The island was once a train yard but there are only a few signs of it's previous use. It goes into Amherst County after crossing over the James River. Make sure to look for wildlife! We see tons of rabbits and dears every time we go!

Having only a hour or so before needing to start our 6-hr drive, we lucked into finding and taking an hour hike. This trail system apparently runs through Lynchburg for 15 or so miles and offers a good venue for walking, hiking, running and probably some other activities along the river and hills. If in Lynchburg and seeking an outdoor activity, this is a good one.

We have been coming here for years to walk, run and ride our bikes. Wonderful scenery and easy access to the different trails. Great place for families!
