We were looking for a quiet place to relax in away from the hustle and bustle of Delhi and Rainforest House was the perfect answer. The rooms are simple and done up tastefully. Everything worked. The staff are courteous and Steve and Tripti are lovely to talk to. Our room was right next to a little stream which was amazingly not slippery at all. It had just enough water for my 2.5 year old daughter to have a great time splashing around. Walking down a path for around minute led to a private beach on the banks of the Ganga! Even if you're not very fond of being in the water, you can just relax in the shade of the beautiful trees on the property. We spotted many birds we'd never seen before. The food's simple but delicious Indian fare well in keeping with the ambience. There's also some space to practice yoga or do a little meditation. Lakshman Jhula is a 10min drive/hitchhike from the resort. We're very glad we found this place and hope to go back soon.

Room Tip: If you have children, try and stay on the ground floor so they have easy access to the stream and ca...

We stayed in the more expensive corner room which was simply but tastefully decorated, light, with a good view of the river and the sound of the waterfall. Everything worked - AC, hot water etc and the generator kicked in when necessary. There are also pleasant views from the dining area and in general this is a nice place to hang out and do little but read and relax. The only 'interference' is the yelling of the hundreds of rafters who take a pit stop down below, but this was more the case at the weekend. I was very happy to be staying away from the touristy areas and it was easy to book a taxi if you needed it. We did the walk once, which was easy enough but not very pleasant towards to end as you have to walk through what is effectively a garbage dump. Breakfast was good, other food was fresh and healthy, but a bit bland, though we found the western option to be better than the Indian. Overall I would recommend this for those who want to relax and enjoy the nearby sites without being in the thick of it all.

PERFECT!!! the rooms are very very good ... the cafe / restaurant is really delicious and the service very obliging...

maybe the wlan is not available any time, but that is a good reason to switch of your mobile or notebook, and if you ask they will reload the modem...

absolute nice place to relax ...

Room Tip: 1st floor could have a better view, but if you go to the cafe, the view is good!

I stayed here with my children in April and we didn't want to leave - the natural beauty and calm were a refreshing change from the noise and air pollution of Rishikesh downriver. The children played for hours in the soothing stream and cascades alongside the guest house and down to the river, and I sat there every morning for meditation. The food is great, with both Indian and good Western fare available. The rooms are lovely and very recent, with the best facilities I have found in the region. The plumbing works and the taps don't leak!

Spent three days here with my girlfriend, and the only bad thing is that we had to leave. The staff was friendly, helpful and modest. Clean, simple and nice rooms with hot water and a confortable bed. Mosquito ned might be a good idea. The common area was pretty, they served good food, and soothing music was playing in the background. Far away from the traffic and noise of Rishikesh, and it was very relaxing with the sounds of the river. Cool architecture. Short walk along the river to Lakshman Jula, where all the cafes and shops are to be found. Can also take a taxi from the road, although walking along the river is recommended. Alot of monkeys around, which can be a really funny sight. The owner is English, and very helpful. The other staff is modest, polite and give good service. You have to walk along a steep path to get there from the main road, but they will meet you with head lamps and help with your luggage. Bring your own flashlight, because it gets dark at night.

Notes:
- Food: vegetarian
- No alcohol allowed
(there is no pool, as far as I know, but TripAdvisor seems to think so....)

If I ever go back to India, I will definately come back. Thanks for a great time :-)

The Hotel is clean and the service I excellent - but the location is mindblowing.

A few steps away from your room and you're sitting on a quiet rock in the holiest river in India.

I came here straight from Delhi and it was the most relaxing introduction to India I could have asked for.
