Review of Fort Pilar

Fort Pilar
Reviewed 7 August 2017

Fort Pilar is a shrine for the Virgin Mary. Many and I mean a LOT of people come here to pray and basically offer up all their worries, sorrows and thanksgiving. This shrine is very important, very much treasured and very much visited in Zamboanga City. Legend has it that when a big wave was about to his Zamboanga, clouds opened up and the Virgin Mary appeared to the people and the wave never washed over Zamboanga that would have devastated a lot of houses and claimed many people's lives. That is why Fort Pilar is revered by Catholics and other denomination of the olden times and now the belief/faith is passed on to their children and their children's children.

Church that has a lawn of birds! One of the great place to experience Milan in my very own country. Fort Pilar is a must to visit place. No entrance fee because of course it's a church all you have to do is buy foods or grains for the birds to eat and whoalah! Great pictures are coming!

The place had a steady stream of devotees praying and lighting candles for their varied intentions. Place is well maintained with tents and chairs to rest and pray. Peddlers with bouquet of mini roses are at the entrance and children gay fully sell candles for p20.00 per bunch.
