“Overcrowded”

Perm Poon Sub Boat Trips day trips
Reviewed 2 weeks ago via mobile

Firstly on the 4 island trip 2 of the so called islands are actually just rocks, no sand or beach, the boat was overcrowded, at least 150 people on the boat so it wasnt great, taxi to and from Resort was crowded, food on board was mediocre, tasteless. If you dont mind wasting 800 baht then go for it.

Unfortunately it was very rainy that day so didn't really enjoy the day out. However our boat was half empty so we had plenty of space to move around. We went swimming on the first 3 islands and the fish were beautiful. I'm sure it must be great on a sunny day. For the last 3 islands everyone stayed inside while the employees were having fun in the water trying to motivate us to follow them. The food was ok but the hygienic conditions are questionable. It is a marine national park however one of the employee was fishing at the door using a string and some pineapple. They then grilled the fish and ate it.
There were also 2/3 boats on the same island at one time so it was a bit crowded.

First - Things are not exactly as they are presented in the brochures. The "buffet lunch" on the boat is a simple Thai meal with rice and 3 curries. The "5 islands" are actually 4 stops with two islands located right next to each other. The "barbecue" turned out to be two kabobs on a stick with half a potato, and the last stop at the national park had no attractions. Having said that, I loved almost every minute of this trip and it was well worth the money. The snorkeling gear seemed to work well. The waters were amazingly clear, and we swam through swarming schools of fish of every kind. The boat was pretty full, but being around people enjoying themselves was a big part of the fun, even though we did run into each other snorkeling. I would gladly do it all again.

Firstly can I suggest to take the 1/2 day tour with the Speed Boat and not one of the tired old wooden slow boats that fit as many as they can on board or it will be a very long day .By the fourth island which is a rock your just about over snorkeling . But the trip back with a short stop off at the monkey island is fast .

Worst thing about the tour is the transfer back and forth from the hotel where they cram 12 people on the taxi truck ... Very hot and what made it longer were 2 hotel pick ups where people weren't ready FFS !

Cost was 800 baht per person but think that can vary slightly , free water and lunch on the second island . 2 young crew were exceptional kids and cared for everyone well . Snorkeling was mediocre as a lot of dead sun bleached coral with occasional interesting fish but still good value for money and was a good 2/3 day . Pick up 9 am return about 3 pm .

This was our second snorkelling trip. The first was Xmas day 2016. It's an average 3 stop trip with the last island, stop N#4 (rock in the ocean) just amazing. I think if we ever did it again I'd just hire a boat and go straight to the last place - sorry, can't recall name. Today we had a boat that had engine trouble, the pick up and drop off to our hotel seemed to be half organised- but it is Thailand and at the end of times the day we saw some beautiful fish.
