Definitely worth the 3-4 hours that the boat ride around the Isletas takes... walked the peninsula to see how the locals live there (very different from Granada itself). Also great for nature lovers!

We went with a guide to kayak around the islands. Our guide pointed out many different birds, and he knew all the plants and flowers. There are amazing lotus plants with flowers when we were there. We stopped on 1 island for drinks but they also serve meals. Great experience and the waters were perfect to kayak.

Highly recommend doing a tour by boat, or if you're more adventurous a kayak - although there is quite a lot of surface area to cover. The islets are absolutely beautiful. There are 365 of them, created by a volcanic explosion, each one covered in tropical plants. One small island has white-faced capuchins, who ate fresh coconut from our guide's hand, and another has howler monkeys climbing in the trees. There are many tropical birds and an old fort overlooking the lake. Definitely a highlight of our stay in Granada.

We stayed at the Isla Zapango for the day. It was such a beautiful experience to see wildlife (cormorants, egrets, kingfishers, swallows, lily pads, etc.). We were in heaven!
