The hotel is in an excellent location, nice views from the balcony. Rooms are very comfortable and very clean with high ceilings. Rene is so attentive to all the guest needs,
very warm and welcoming he makes you feel right at home. This hotel is the best option
when going to Granada, you can not go wrong.

Hotel Real La Merced in Granada (in Nicaragua) is a very nice traditional boutique HOTEL with excellent restoration (with special attention to details ) in the heart of Granada next to the Old Catholic Church of La Merced, a stone’s throw from the Cathedral (central place of the city of Granada) and ten minutes walk to the Lake of Nicaragua (the largest in the country)
From the capital Managua to the Hotel Real La Merced in Granada you need a taxi, but you could take also the public bus, which is the cheapest way (could be more adventurous and more time consuming).
The Hotel Real La Merced is a Boutique Hotel (with traditional architecture) is a nice and comfortable Hotel with very large, spacious rooms, very clean and safe, in which we have experienced excellent service of the staff (extremely helpful, very polite, very attentive)
The Hotel has also a small swimming pool which was a nice surprise for us.
The Breakfast was complimentary and had two or three options to choose from.
The restaurant offered very good fixed meals for lunch or dinner at very competitive prices
The Hotel prices were mid-range and the value for money was great.
Although the WIFI was free throughout the Hotel Real La Merced sometimes I had the impression that it was a bit slow, but no real problems have been encountered.
In a nutshell I liked and enjoyed my stay at Hotel Real La Merced in Granada, in Nicaragua, I really have had the opportunity to relax and I would like to stay again if the opportunity arises.

We stayed here twice on our trip. Once as we stopped on our way South and then at the end of our trip. Both times our experience was great. Staff was friendly and very very helpful, breakfast was delicious, beds were comfortable and it was quite enjoyable to lounge by the pool in the late afternoon. I loved the feel of this old grand house with the spacious open courtyard and rooms around it. In the mornings the hotel was very quiet and wonderful to sit out on the verandah with a cup of coffee from the room. Pool was a bit chilly but that is most likely due to us not being there when it was blazing hot. I definitely took a dip or two!
We had a room that only had a small window into the courtyard, which was a bit weird but turned out to be fine. Made it nice and quiet and enough light filters in the morning that you don't feel like you are in a closet. Other rooms looked to have balconies, which would be nice but street noise could then be a problem.

Room tip: Some of the upstairs rooms had balconies, which looked nice. I think they were a premium though.

We had such a wonderful time in Granada, and particularly because of the amazing home base of Hotel Real La Merced! The staff members were so friendly and helpful, speaking English when needed but letting me work on my Spanish with the utmost patience and respect! We traveled with our 9 and 11 year old, who loved the pool and included breakfast. Our room was comfortable and well equipped. The location was awesome as it was close to everything but just enough away to make sleeping very comfortable. The have a great tour company they work with who will take you through Lake Nicaragua. Great place, great deal!!!

As we were traveling thrue Nicaragua we booked this hotel for our last three nights. However because of a delay of the boat we arrived one day later. We did call the reception and saw that there were still other rooms available. Unfortunately we did have to pay the full amount including breakfast. We don't find this very customer friendly. The hotel is located in a beautiful mansion close to central park. Be aware that streetnoice keeps you awake.

Hello Ms Sonja Thank for the comment and staying with us. We understand your disappointed and thank for the call. But if you call the same day to cancel one night, you will understand than we were keeping away that room for you and we could not have the chance to put it on sale. The night that you did not come, we have two room left but not king room available (The only one was yours). We don't charge breakfast apart, we charge our price for the room and breakfast is included, we don't even have a tariffs without breakfast. Warning for future travelers: Specially this week can be very noise at the town. Many tourists and Cars in the city, many cars from Managua, Costa Rica, Honduras and El Salvador crowed the city. Many Cultural traditions with music which can be considered very noisy but its part of our Cultural traditions for Holy Week, normally Granada is more quiet. Thanks and i hope my replied can answer your doubht.
