Great Portuguese restaurant. We had monkfish, really good food. About €20 p/head for starter, main and wine.

Perhaps we caught them on the wrong day, our meal was not great. The interior is typical Portuguese, not much to say about that. They have a big display case with fish and meat, it looked good and fresh. The place is very big, we were here off-season during the week so it was quiet but I think it can get very crowded in the high season. Service was not very talkative but rather fast and correct. The standard menu is in English, the daily dishes in Portuguese. We ordered a boar stew and suckling pig cuttings. Unfortunately both were very dry, as if re-heated in a hurry. Also the stew was very watery and bland, it tasted as if it was made with a minimum effort. The place has a good reputation for steak so perhaps we were just unlucky with our order. For us the expectations were much higher than the reality, not sure we will return here.

After checking in at the hotel down the road, we decided to pop to this restaurant purely as it was within walking distance.
We couldn't have been luckier with this being the first restaurant to go to in Portugal.

I was impressed with the fresh meat and fish counters which definitely influenced our order. The staff were very friendly and welcoming. is ery well priced and the local red wine was pretty decent too.

I had the mixed meat kebab and the one in the photo is the monkfish.. strongly recommend!

A very good friend has retired here from the UK. This appears to be his local as he is well known. Food was very good with excellent service and what I think was at a very good price. The fact that both my wife and I speak Portuguese helped a lot in choosing our respective dishes.

When you are looking for a place for two, nice and quite, Os Agostinhos is definitely the wrong place.
OA is a typical Portuguese restaurant, where lots of locals go for a meal. Busy, noisy and always full.
The food is fresh and really good. We come here since decades to eat a Portuguese steak or a pepper steak, which we can recommend. We can recommend all other food and especially the home made desert and cakes.
