A wonderful week in the Douro Valley is over and I do not regret the visit. A beautiful valley with idyllic vineyards, good wine, portwines and good food. We stayed in a villa with all the facilities you can imagine, Quinta Rainha Mafalda which is situated on a hill right by the small town of Pinhao. A place with lovely views of the valley and the river. Breakfast was served daily by two lovely girls Eugenia and G. During the week several dinners were also made for us "at home" by Chef Andre, who also own a restaurant in Braga. We also had a daily serviceminded, helpful chaufoer and guide Antonio, who took us to great vineyards, a trip on the Douro river and a city trip to Porto. This place and villa must be experienced, so "run" to buy your the next holiday trip to the Douro Valley, I promise to tell all my friends about this beautiful Place xoxo
What a spectacular vacation villa. It could not have been more perfect. Every amenity and then some. Breathtaking views, spacious living rooms, comfortable bedrooms and Eugenia, the perfect housekeeper ready to prepare a delicious breakfast every morning. Great location close to many of the best Douro Valley vineyards and wonderful local restaurants. Fernando was the perfect host and he introduced us to Antonio, the best tour guide who took us on a fabulous cruise on the Douro River. Our stay at Quinta Rainha could not have been more perfect
5 star plus! Amazing luxury villa booked for my husbands 50th with 6 friends. Wonderful time and the housekeeper Eugenie and assistant G were 2 fab girls. Made breakfast every day organised local taxis nothing was too much trouble. Local butcher was great even offering samples of his cheeses and hams and " iced tea"!. Fernando and his team were simply the best, even organising a chef to cook for us and a wine tour. Cant recommend this highly enough.
We had a fantastic time at this villa, it is definitely 5 stars and more. The vista surrounding the villa is superb and the amenities are top notch. The whole family enjoyed our week we spent here. Our teenagers especially enjoyed the pool table and the homemade cake that was there on arrival!
The prepared breakfasts were a real bonus as was the meal that was cooked for us on our chosen night. The villa was spotlessly clean and very big so you could loose yourself and have your own time out if required. Eugenia who looked after the villa along with Emilia could not do enough for you and were there to answer any questions.
The surrounding area had multitudes of vineyards within easy driving distance, along with vines surrounding the property itself.
I would not hesitate to recommend this villa, the pictures do not do it justice.
We were greeted by the wonderful Eugenia he housekeeper upon arrival with Port Wine and homemade cake and juice for the kids
Every morning we had a free breakfast - wonderfully prepared fresh by her at a time of our choosing
(She lives in the next village)
The house is stunning - I couldn't believe how much nicer it is real life than the video and pics
It's also hard to believe that the owner has opened their doors to the public for holiday rentals - we felt honoured
The views are stunning and the peace and tranquility meant we could lie by the pool and recharge our soul!
We did a few outings - private boat cruise (fernando organised it) with lunch on board and we visited a couple of wineries but frankly the house is so amazing we stayed at 'home' most of the time and just lazed around the pool and the games room in the evenings!
wow - from start to finish we throughly enjoyed ourselves at this fabulous villa
service from eugenia the housekeeper was warm genuine snd helpful
loved sitting in the jacuzzi with a glass of wine and admiring the views
lots to do and we also took the train from thr nearby station to porto - amazing city
we took the boat trip ad featured on the villas video ( the video reference is on the descritpion) and we also went to a local wine cellar for a tour
all in all a great easter break
we were 2 small families and we did a 2 centre break to the north of portugal
it was our first time and we definitely would like to come back in the summer although we had warm weather of 23 degrees
Aside from the views, the best thing was Eugenia, who cooked breakfast for us every morning, and also at our request, two evenings also. The house is up a steep road, not walkable from the village - so having Eugenia there each morning was great. The food was excellent, the views are amazing. A holiday for someone who wants total relaxation and quiet - a day boat trip up the Douro valley is recommended as a change from the pool!.
