we (3 families, two adults, two kids each) went to Suzdal by car on May 1 and couldn't find any better place to stay but the Rizopolozhenskaya hotel.
it is located at the territory of the acting women's monastery with a nice ancient church and a bell tower. Quite a view, very quiet and secure. Guarded car parking costs 4 dollars a night.
The hotel itself is quite basic, but good enough to spend one night after a busy day of sightseeing.
It has two stars, but we paid $120 a night for a big room with three beds and a sofa.
There is a shower and a toilet in the room. You will not be impressed by the tiles and sanitary equipment, but this is how most Russians live these days.
It was quite clean, and the cafe downstars served good food for reasonable money.
Staff was friendly and helpful. They say it is less expensive in other time.
