Lovely hotel, well laid out series of single storey buildings. Nicely laid out gardens in this very arid part of the world. Fantastic pool, great breakfasts and they even do evening meals which are really good too. The hotel is a few km from Agua Amarga and you would need a car to get here but you get a very pleasant hotel and tranquil surroundings. Highly recommended

My girlfriend and I stayed for a long weekend in mid-July. Luckily we were able to get a booking at this wonderful little rural getaway.

We stayed in a cosy, super quiet room and got plenty of much needed sleep during the trip. The room was well furnished with a bathroom. Breakfast was served in a small communal dining room, next to a living room with plenty of books, music, snacks and everything you can think of for a relaxing sit down or chat. All of the guests and staff were friendly and happy to help with any enquiries.

We were lucky to enjoy a concert of Spanish guitar music on Thursday evening, which fit perfectly with the ambiance of the place. We thoroughly enjoyed this relaxing entertainment put on for the guests.

The kitchen provides many packed lunches and snacks that can be ordered as guests go off adventuring to the many beaches, sites and national parks that are just a short car journey away.

Recommended for those looking for a nice place to stay whilst exploring Almeria.

Room Tip: Book early, we were lucky to get the last room so if you are interested make sure you book in advanc...

Desert landscape setting. The way the "gardens" and pool area are landscaped means that you can sit and walk and read alone, without bumping into other guests, even though it is quite an open landscape. Wooden seats, and cacti, and little pebble pathways, inglenook patios sheltered, Books are provided. Honesty bar to help yourself in lounge and another by the pool. It encourages you to unwind, and totally relax, and while the charming hostess is utterly friendly it may be a little isolating for some guests. Small number of rooms, but guests do not chat or mingle. If you are looking for peace - this is the place to come.
we ate dinner there the first night. Good quality food, simple fish, tasty but not outstanding. Breakfast though was a real banquet. lots of different types of figs and fruits, and breads and cheeses and all kinds of homemade honey and jams, and other delicacies.
The room was huge, airy, elegant, with fabulous large walk in shower. Own patio area , private.
A variety of beaches, including a nudist beach, in easy reach in the area. Aqua amarga village 5 minutes drive away has some nice restaurants.

Staying at Cortijo Los Malenos is like coming home. In all our years of travel, we have never had a more relaxing stay in a truly beautiful part of Spain. From the moment we arrived we were made to feel welcome and nothing was too much trouble.
We needed a few restful days to re-charge our batteries and face the long winter months in the UK and we leave here with some great memories; balmy evenings eating the most amazing home made meals from locally sourced and grown produce, drinking great wines and all accompanied with stimulating and fun conversations with other guests and the owner.
Los Malenos has been designed and built with loving care and amazing attention to detail. In every nook and cranny there are authentic pieces of architecture and furniture, all beautifully restored and cared for. The surrounding grounds are ideal for anyone wanting a quiet corner to sit and read with lots of chairs and seating in many different areas. Everywhere you turn the view is amazing.
All the rooms are very comfortable, each is tastefully designed with modern bathrooms and many have a private outside terrace. The staff are friendly and eager to help with any requests and the owner has extensive knowledge of the surrounding area.
Although we decided to relax and stay close to the Cortijo, it is perfectly situated in the heart of the Cabo de Gata Park for the more energetic visitor. Walking and cycling are perfect for this area and the nearby Agua Amarga is a very pretty village with a great beach for swimming or soaking up the sun.
We plan to return in the spring and cannot recommend Cortijo Los Malenos highly enough.

This was a wonderful place to stay in the Cabo de Gata National Park. The hotel totally lived up to the promises on its website and more.
We booked for three nights and, on seeing our room, I was a little concerned as, although it was very well appointed and beautiful, it seemed a bit small for three people. However we unpacked carefully and used the property's ample shared areas to relax in. The grounds and pool were also wonderful. The position of the hotel was perfect for sightseeing in the park by car, and our wonderful hostess gave us lots of good advice on walks, beaches and restaurants. Breakfast was excellent and there was a self-serve area for coffee, snacks and drinks. We felt as though we were valued guests in somene's home, but not in an intrusive way. If you like the look of this place on the website don't hesitate to book. It's home away from home in a unique part of the world.

Reviews from the Trip Advisor swayed us to stay here. The beauty of the estate far exceeded our expectations. We found it a wee bit difficult to find, but the excellence of the establishment far outweighed any initial inconvenience. The entire facility was impeccably maintained. The staff was delightful.

My husband and I found the quiet surroundings and lush flora to be romantic. It was a tad cold during our stay and the fireplaces (in the botega and dining room) warmed us and smelled wonderful. It was wonderful that they had internet access so that my husband could conduct his business.

The rooms were equipped with the smallest detail thought out. The decor was fabulously "Spanish countryside." I only wish we had more time to stay and the weather had been a bit warmer!

I highly recommend this B&B!

Our first trip to Spain and Los Malenos with two young children (1 and 3 years old) was a huge success. We flew into Murcia and found everything very straight forward, car hire was cheap, roads were in great condition and we arrived without any problems at Los Malenos. The entrance to Los Malenos far exceeded our expectations. Fantastic, huge wooden gates, olive trees, pepper trees and red bourganvilia hanging over the adobe white walls. Very good first impression.

The rooms were laid out in groups of (i cant remember exactly) about 4 rooms to a courtyard and had an attractive little water feature in each. The rooms also had private patios off the bedroom. Spectaular, unbroken view down the valley. We immediately felt we had got away from it all.

The swimming pool, fountains, fish pond, shaded swing seats, paths and private (many again shaded) courtyards entertained the children and we didnt feel we would disturb other guests as there was more than enough space to find privacy and a corner to ourselves.

The whole design of the place showed the thought and care that the owner had put into every last detail, making it authentically rustic and yet with all the conveniences and simplicity of modern design, again great with two children in tow!

The beach, which was only a 5 minute drive away was beautiful, clean, had a childrens play area on it and had showers and a selection of cafes aswell as a shop nearby. October seemed a great time of year to come as it was really quiet, which is what we wanted. There were a few other people on the beach but we were no where near each other. It was too hot to be out with the little ones for more than about 1-2 hours each day so we planned our day appropriately, but we would very happily come again anytime between October and January I would have thought as it is still wonderful weather even in December for playing on a beach with little ones who just love sand! Cheap to get to and calm because of the lack of crowds and I felt safe and relaxed.

To top it off Los Malenos have 2 donkeys who must be the happiest donkeys in Spain. (I didnt realise donkeys were so soft to touch!). They have their own little house on the hill within the grounds and the children loved to visit them. They also had a cart that one of the donkeys pulled which my eldest sat on with the owner and had a ride around the entrance grounds! Kids had a great time and parents loved it to. Hope to go back soon, hugely recommend Los Malenos to all.
