Stayed in a super apartment last week. Apartment was very modern and clean with every facility. Close to a swimming pool and easy walk to the beach and surroundings.
Guests mainly over fifties (me included!) but there were some younger couples with young children.
The main pool and restaurant are superb, views amazing too.
Lots to do in the surrounding areas.

We were two couples staying for 4 weeks in january/february 2012. We had booked in advance, and no questions were asked about payment or credit cards upon arrival. We were welcomed and got the key to our apartment. The apartment had a living room with kitchen, a nice bedroom with a comfortable bed and a good bathroom. The balcony had a fantastic seawiew and sun from 1130 til 1800. Althoug the apartment was a bit worn, it was clean. A maid came every day cleaning and doing the dishes. When we arrived a bottle of good wine was placed on the table together with fresh fruit and some beers and cocas in the fridge. The breakfast, served from 0800 - 1030 was excellent. No queus, always filled up with food and waiters asking if we wanted more coffe. A food store, a gourmet restaurant and a pool bar serving food and beverages as well as a heated pool and a palm garden with lots of sun beds with plenty of space to place them was part of it. Free to use. The day before we left, we paid the bill, just the agreed price, no extras and we booked 4 weeks in January/february 2013.
Most guests were 60-70s

We have visited Gran Canaria many times and have enjoyed our stay each time. We usually stay at Anfi - Just along the road from aquamarina apartments and have had no complaints to date. We decided to stay an extra day and because Anfi could not facilitate this - they recommended this place.

On arrival to the apartment we were asked to pay upfront at a price of 95euros. This was our first mistake. We then were given a map to direct ourselves to our room. We were directed into a tiny, pokey lift which barely fit the buggy in. On getting out of the lift we had to walk about 1000 metres down a road, then go down 3 sets of stairs to arrive at our apartment door. We had 3 suitcases, a buggy, a 3 year old child, and a hand luggage each. We were offered no help to get to the apartment until the gardener passed by and seen we were struggling.

On arrival to the apartment we thought ok its quite dated in decoration and facilities but its only for one night think positively. We were told that we didn't pay for the little man - but on arrival to the apartment we realised we had been given a pokey little travel cot for him. He hasn't slept in a cot since he was like 8 months. But hey we thought its only one night he can slept in beside us.

Dropped our bags off and went out for the evening. On the way back a little black creature (a cockroach) ran past my feet outside the apartments. Naturally i was wary but again thought it'll be ok there wont be any in the room.

The sleep....we all barely slept. The room was stifling hot, there was no air conditioning. At one point my partner actually slept in the sun loungers in the balcony it was that hot and got eaten alive with bugs. On return home my son was covered in spots which the doctor said was bed bugs from holiday.

The shower....got up in the morning to have my shower before breakfast and then travelling to the airport. The shower tiles were all cracked, and grimy. Had my shower went to go into my toiletry bag then a big cockroach jumped out of it. That was the final straw. Screamed for my partner to come through and in the process woke my son up. he came running through and stood on another cockroach on his bare feet. The other one was too fast to kill it and was still in the room when we left.

Telephoned reception to advise them of this at 7.30am and they said 'oh ok we will make a note of it'. i demanded someone come down but no-one did before we left at 8am. We got up and left the complex without even eating breakfast as sitting at the airport for an extra 2 hours was much more preferable.

Complained to reception on handing my keys in. Expressed my unhappiness at there being no air conditioning and the cockroach situation. Explained that I wouldn't be dining with them for breakfast. They offered no apology, no refund and a carefree attitude stating they would pass my complaints to their manager. Never again...don't stay here!!

Room Tip: Definitely do not stay in room 306 if you want to avoid a lack of air-conditioning, walking down a million steps with a child in a buggy and your luggage with no help from reception. Just thankful the gardener actually helped. And if you want to avoid an infestation of cockroachs.

This resort is very nice with good on site facilities - But the rooms are Very dated, Very 1970s like something out of an Austin Powers film - but not fab baby.

Room Tip: Aquamarina bungalows are nicer than Montemarina
