We visited on a steak night. ( Thursday) 2 sirloin steaks and a bottle of wine for £25. Good keg beers. The food was good. No frills. The starters a little pricey for a small pub.
Shame about the filthy carpet n the dining room.

Thank Margaret T

New landlords are warm and friendly and are really trying to get things going. Very much a local Inn/restaurant but the locals are friendly as you would expect in Lancs! Not eaten there yet but will do soon.

really nice warm friendly atmosphere. attention to detail, went above and beyond what would expect. food order was taken at the table, drinks service and not a long wait. we did book, glad as the restaurant area was quite busy. kids had clean plates. given sweet packet by the landlord - nice little touch! would recommend

We were on our way there, up the m6, with about 20 mins to go, when the landlady rang and said they had double booked our room so we had no booking that night! She apologised and offered to find us an alternative at her expense. We waited but she didn't ring back. As we were getting closer we needed to know where we were going. We rang her but she said the hotel in question hadn't answered their phone. She couldn't do more as they were busy and she had a pub to run! We found the hotel she had mentioned but they were fully booked that night. The did try to find us a room elsewhere but had no luck as there was something going on in the area and most hotels were booked!
We decided to meet up with our friends at the restaurant and see what unfolded. The staff at the restaurant kindly found us a room but it was some distance away and involved a £20 taxi ride. Obviously we then needed a taxi back to our car in the morning. I emailed the Lord Nelson to explain about our extra expense which I felt she should have recompensed us for. (The new hotel was more expensive too) but I have yet to hear.
I felt really let down and the evening was initially spoilt by her poor service.
