“Will be BACK!!”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 30 April 2012

We stayed in block 9. Very good central location. The best part of the trip for me was the staff. Everyone was so friendly and animated. There is always lots to do. The pool is very clean and the swim up bar is great. Santiago was the bartender in the pool bar. He was very good at his job. As for the a la cartes, we had the grill, seafood, and international. Not a complaint for all 3. The buffet restaurant was excellent as well. I really liked the stir fry station and the pasta staion. They cook it in front of you. The desserts were a little bland but thats ok. I needed to save room for more drinks anyways. The beers on tap there are Bucanero and Cristal. Both were delicious. Yes, maybe the rooms are a bit outdated, but who cares? You are only in your room for a small portion of the day. The rooms are very clean though with AC(which works awesome), TV, patio balcony, extra blankets, and for you ladies out there, they have hair dryers. There are also hangers in the closet so no need to bring any. Be sure to visit the Pizza shack for lunch. Jordi and Danilo were excellent servers there and are both very friendly and funny. We went horse back riding for an hour and it only cost 10 pesos. It was a great experience. All the entertainment was great! There is definitley entertainment for all ages. We really liked the magician and the contortionist during the night shows. Be sure to try the donut strips located near the stage at night time. The dude also makes cotton candy as well. The lobby bar was a nice spot to relax. There was always lots of room there. Osvaldo was a great server there. Anyways, I hate typing long stories. To make a long story short, me and my girlfriend enjoyed the trip and we would recommend this resort to anyone.

Room Tip: Block 9 was good.

went to tryp 9th-23rd april, 1st time to Cuba, laugh at people who return to the same place year after year, but .. we're off again next april! we've definitely got the bug! Do not be taken in by the negative reviews of this hotel, from the minute we arrived there was nothing to complain about! honestly, its just beautiful, the gardens are amazing, gardeners all over the place, the staff are the most friendly people iv ever met, not because they want tips, its just the way they are, but you WILL tip, not because you have to, because you'll want to! Yamilia our waitress at the buffet was such a lovely person, try to stay in the same area of the buffet every time you go, they will remember you and have a table ready on your arrival.

Food
absolutely no complaints, the bacon is the best you will eat! You will wander around the buffet for a while looking at all the food and trying to decide what to have, so your hot food may get a little cold, no worry as there is a decent microwave in the middle of the buffet, the grill/pasta/egg stations do get a little busy but try to go for breakfast early and you'll have no problem, same as evening, get there for 7 and you'll be fine, but honestly the choice is amazing, and they keep stocking up during the whole sitting so you'll have the same choice later as early. Also, when it does get busy, you may not find a table that's been cleared, just sit down and smile at the waiting staff and they'll be straight over, don't stand there moaning like some people we saw, politeness gets you everywhere. We tried all the a'la'carte restaurants, the cuban was the best, very snug but food was lovely, oriental was good as well, service second to none! surprisingly only one we didn't rate was the international, which some people say was the best, just try them all, you'll get a favorite, also worth noting is you get 3 a la'cartes a week but if you havn't got a reservation, just visit and if they have a table free they'll accommodate you, we did this in the cuban and went back 3 evenings in a row!

Rooms
we started off in block 1 which was furthest away with a nice sea view, we were a bit worried that we'd be a hike away from pools etc but honestly only 5-7 minutes stroll, so dont panic if you get put in this block, room was fine, yeah bit run down, be careful with plug sockets, some were hanging off wall, towels changed every day, and were immaculate, beds made every day but not changed, just ask and the maid will oblige, anyway, were perfectly happy with this block until .. 5am every day, cockerels howling outside our room, you will NOT get a lay in! so by end of 1st week we asked if they have any room near quiet pool, (10, 11, 12, 14) and were put in block 12, ground floor (1215 and 1216) adjoining rooms, and renovated, bliss! very quiet and cannot hear music at all, which we did in block 1, it seems to bounce of pool even though we were furthest away, but it stops at 11pm so not really a problem, TV channels were great, newer tv's in second room, english football, film channels, plenty of choice if you want to chill for a bit, my 9 year old thought spanish spongebob (bob sponker!) was hilarious!

Pools/beach
Main pool very clean, plenty of beds to choose from, could do with a few more brolly's, there was about 8 in total round the whole pool, plenty of activities, a vollyball net, aqua aerobics, etc, music plays most of the time, but mostly spanish i think, not offensive as iv read in other reviews, bingo during the day, the compare is quite loud, but fun and gets everyone involved. just go with it, your on holiday! if you do want quiet, head to the quiet pool, round blocks 10, 11, 12, 14, its quite small, but very peaceful, no teenagers there, a small bar as well, bliss!
Beach is lovely, can get a bit windy, and the tide does come up quite high, but usually by midday you have loads of beach, water is lovely, we went snorkelling for an hour and it was breathtaking, you can get snorkel gear and life jackets from the dive centre, we paid about 45 pounds for it for a family of 4, well worth the money. pedalos, kyacs, banana rides are all free tho, but wont be out if the wind is up.

Fishing
One of the reasons we chose cuba was my partner wanted to do some fishing, he wasn't disappointed, at the dive centre they'll take you out on a hobby craft, for 3 hours for about 30 quid, he caught 4 barracudas, well chuffed, also ivan (thomas cook op) will arrange other trips for you, if you meet other fishermen try to share the cost with them. Also if you come out of hotel head left up beach and you will come to some rocks which you can fish from, just keep an eye on the wind, it can get very windy!

General
Ivan our tour operator (thomas cook) was fab, totally committed his job, a lovely guy, always there to help, we didn't really use his services, but knew if we wanted info on anything, he was the man!
Change your money at the hotel, you get the best rate, they DONT fiddle you out of money, just ask for a receipt if you worried, but we always got what we were due, the front desk staff are brilliant, very helpful and everyone in the hotel speaks good english, even the gardeners! they'll make you a hat our of coconut leaves, or little bugs, if you dont want them just say no thank you, they wont hassle you.

that smell
oh by the way, there was NO smell from the lagoon, the whole 2 weeks, they've either sorted it, or again people moan just for the sake of it, dont know, but we definitely did not experience any smell at all!

Overall
what can i say, the best holiday ever, honestly! go with it, don't moan about the small things, and you'll have a great time as we did, cant wait to go next april, and probably the one after that as well, PERFECT! thank you Tryp hotel

All the staff are so lovely out there and are great with kids and everyone else. They would do anything for you. All theses comments about food poisoning are rubbish! when i went there everyone enjoyed the food and look forward to there meals! A great selection of food available. Nothing too fancy but it hit the spot!

The rooms I admit are not amazing, but they are clean and the amount of time you actually spend in them, does it really matter? They do the job and they all have nice balcony's or patios.

You cant ask for much more when it come to the beach. the sea is beautifully clear and very calm with soft white sand.
The pools are also nice, the large one has lots of entertainment and is great fun but there is a quiet pool also which is as well very nice.

The evening entertainment is lots of fun and there is a childrens show followed latter by a adults show! Always a great way to finish the day!! There are also a lot of great trips you can go on

I had the most amazing time (3rd time) and would recommend it to anyway looking for a relaxing or fun holiday.

Room Tip: Ask for one that is quiet when you check in and they will give you one! JUST ASK AND THEY WILL DELIV...

Thank you to all the staff of the Tryo Cayo Coco for making our stay memorable and pleasant. We stayed March 29 - April 5 with a group of family and friends. Building 5 is perfect if you have children. It is close to the pool and the beach for all the trips back to the washroom or for the things that children forget. The pool, the beach, the staff, the food, and the atmosphere was terrific. We took our two children, ages 12 and 8. They met many other children at the pool. This resort is visited by many Canadians. The children had a fantastic time. The sun is very strong so bring SPF 50 or stronger for your children. Also t-shirts to cover their shoulder and hats as everyone inevitably gets a bit of sunburn. We took foam swimboards that fit in our suitcase and plastic beach balls that we inflated while there. We also took our own masks and snorkels to use while there. There is a small reef off the beach and we fed the fish often. There is a man that makes cotton candy and doughnut curls at night. The kids loved these. There is also a man who has a goat harnessed to a little cart to take people for a ride at night. The food was good but make sure that you take immodium as the different styles of cooking and eating were affecting everyone before the week was out. The rooms were comfortable but dated. Everything we needed was there. They do not have facecloths so if you need these take your own. The grounds are well established and beautiful. This resort was quieter than the 5 star we went to in the Dominican last year. I liked the quiet. The beach and grounds were more natural and I enjoyed that immensely. The restaurants were excellent. The only negative thing for us was that there were 4 young college-aged couples from Canada that arrived a few days after we did. There were a few of the men in this group that acted like pompous jerks and were very rude and unrespectful of others. I was ashamed that they were Canadian. I see that someone else commented on these same "kids". Please be respectful when you travel- we are ambassadors of Canada while abroad.

Room Tip: Building 5 is oceanfront and has beautiful views.

We are always somewhat nervous when visiting a new resort...but with this resport, we had nothing to worry about. We vacationed there from April 21st-April 8th, 2012....and had a wonderful time. The resort was beautiful and the service was amazing. I have never stayed at a resort that the staff worked so hard to keep it clean, around the clock. We always found great food to eat (with the best french toast in the world)...and the a la cartes were ABSOLUTLY AMAZING! We loved the International restaurant so much, we went back the 2nd time. And I think TRYP has the best beach!
Thanks TRYP CAYO COCO....for a fantastic vacation :)

Room Tip: we stayed in section 6...rooms are a little older but SPOTLESS! And it was right on top of the pool...

Just got back from Hotel Tryp, Cayo Coco, Cuba on March 9th, 2012. This was our 7th stay at this resort. The service is fantastic. Ricardo Gomez and Leonore from guest services looked right after us. They are so accomodating. Be friendly, treat them with respect and they can't do enough for you. One of my favorite things is to be able to tip. It makes you feel so good to help others in need and they are so appreciative. It is like going to visit family. William from the breakfast and lunch buffet is such a sweet guy. He was a wonderful waiter. Couldn't wait to see his smiling face each day. The food was fabulous. We especially liked the Barbecue Grill, the International, the Cuban and the beach front fast food restaurants. Louisa at the fast food restaurant on the beach is a dear. The main lunch and supper buffet was always spectacular. People who complain about the food should stay home. Remember you are in another country to try something different!! The rooms are a little dated but very clean. We did not go to spend time in a room!! You take your chances on the weather no matter where you go. We lucked out and had super weather the whole time! The beach is awesome and so relaxing. We did the day trip to Moron. It is worth trying. The meal at the banana plantation was awesome. We can't wait for next year! We will cetainly be back!!!! Remember your vacation is what you make it. Be positive. You are in Cuba. They can't run to the corner store when something needs fixed or replaced. Major projects take time. They are hard working people. It is a fantastic place to vacation!!

Room Tip: If you want quiet block 10 and 11 are by the smaller quiet pool. It has it's own small bar and i...
