We greatly enjoyed our Christmas stay at this hotel. I had not been back to Jacmel since the 1980's and the beautiful gingerbread town has been greatly affected by the political and natural events that have challenged this beautiful country. The spirit of hospitality and refinement is still alive at Hótel Cyvadier. The proprietor is an educated and hospitable man. The staff is attentive and kind. The rooms are very simple, but adequate. The views are stunning. The food is delicious. This is a wonderful, simple place to stay while visiting Jacmel. Be sure to ask the proprietor for tips on where to buy art in the area. Many of the shops are hidden away and not obvious from the street.

My friend and I went to Cyvadier. We arrived at night. The front desk guy wasn't friendly and acted like he was being bothered. We were just asking basic questions before booking. I am not sure if he was having a bad night or what. My friend then asked if she could see the room first. He said no. He also said there was no TV in the room (not not we cared or would be watching anyways but it's 2018. Why would a Hotel Room not have a TV?). That would be fine, but then he said no double beds either. At that point on he wasn't interested in talking to us at all. We ended up leaving and went to Cap Lamandou right up the street. they have doubled beds, TV, killer view and all. And the lady who checked us in was nice and did so with a smile & had no issue showing us a similar room to what she would give us. Too bad we could not stay at Cyvadier. Train your Front Desk agents to b more friendly.
