Living near DB we have dined there many times and keep thinking "maybe this next time will be a little better". Hah, never happens! Most recent visit was 2 July with visiting son and family with infant. Food and beer were OK, slightly above average. The turnoff was that we were told that even with four adults any samplings of the beer more than two (sips/tastes, not pours like in flights) cost $ XX.XX. This is the cheapest, most penny- pinching policy I have ever seen as most brewpubs are happy/proud to allow small tastes of their products to ensure people order what they like! However, this treatment/attitude is what I have come to realize is the norm that preys upon one time customers, not locals who would visit more often if not for the cavalier, corporate mentality at DB.

Wow, amazing place. The food was 5 star. Huge selection. The menu goes from simple to high end. Tucked a way in the Mountains and the views were fantastic. This is not your small brew house. They have a cigar bar, an area large enough to host just about anything. Great selection of beer and the beer was great. If your in the area this is a must see. Even if your not a beer drinker go for the food.

Stopping at Devils Backbone was unlike any stop I made at any other breweries in the area.

It hits you right away as there are multiple gates to enter the compound. Several of the buildings and services were closed during my weekday visit which was unfortunate.

The bar area was open for food, drinks and growler fills. Service was friendly and quick.

The venue is huge with a large stage for band performances and other events. The brewery definitely has the large commercial brewery feel which detracts in my opinion from the craft brewing appeal of most breweries that I visit. I like to meet with the guys who are passionate about beer and are working there for the art and craft of the product.

The brewhouse at DB felt more like walking into a Yard House restaurant. Good service, good food, but a lack of passion and knowledge about the beer being served.

We enjoyed the beef brisket at the indoor sit down restaurant. It was probably the best we have had. The service was great and we enjoyed the decor. With all the outdoor seating it was a fun place. We are not beer drinkers, but if we were, we could see this would be THE place.

Group stayed in their Casa lodge. Tried several of their brews. Found the Spirits and Cigar shop, Breakfast building. Food was generous of portion and flavor. Plenty of operating hours and outside gathering space. Looks to be enhancing their own over nite accommodations with lodges, multi unit lodge (hotel), and campground. Stage for music and performance. Fire pits and outside seating, Staff was so very accommodating and helpful despite the crush of business. Within 15 miles are other breweries, distilleries, cider-ies, skiing, private lodges and B&Bs. trails.... it is a great weekend visiting spot. I would say if you can make it during the weekdays of winter.... it is quite a peaceful and less crowded experience.
