We like going to get pizza & salad. Lots of stuff on pizza & not to long waiting for the pizza to come to the table.

We had the cheese fries as an appetizer and they were soooo good. The portions were HUGE! Our son is 8 and on the bubble between ordering off of the kids menu and the adult. The waitress verified with us if we were ok with it, and she was right- it was a lot! He ordered the shrimp alfredo. The Cesar salad, spaghetti and meatballs also had very generous portions.
Overall, we will add it to our list of good places when we head to Charlottesville!
First of all the food. The minestrone soup was basically a tomato soup with a few and I mean a few vegetables scattered throughout. Worst I've ever had. The Greek salad had some lettuce covered by a tasteless feta cheese black olives (not Greek) soaked in a harsh vinegar dressing. Ok at best. The pizza had a limp soggy crust covered in a salty tasteless cheese.
As you can tell I did not like the food, but it was the highlight of the meal compared to the atmosphere. We were seated across from the most disgusting restaurant patron I have ever experienced. During the meal he both blew his nose and wiped his mouth on his already filthy t-shirt. He farted and made grunting noises throughout the meal.
But the topper was when he pulled up a pregnant waitress's t-shirt and proceeded to caress and rub her bare belly as she giggled. This went on for several minutes. This guy also got up numerous times and roamed through the restaurant. Once stopping at another table to rub and caress another man's head. Why the other man tolerated this I will never understand. Why the restaurant tolerated this is even a bigger mystery.
Not going to sugarcoat things: this place is clean, and the food is good - and not all Italian, either. The value is good, too. If you're a northerner expecting fast city-slicker service, relax a little...they're usually busy.
Regular specials and dependable standards; good salads, and lunch specials.
We visit Vinny's a couple times a month. It is packed after school events (plays, concerts, sports) and on weekend evenings.
No reservations needed, just bring your appetite.
Vinny's is a great home style Italian restaurant. It has some very good veal dishes and its rigatoni bolognese is outstanding. The pizza is excellent - AND - they even make a very good burger. Prices are very fair and it's also a great place to bring the kids.
