We have been to Mokomandy three times and it never disappoints. It took us a while to go there because the sound of Korean Cajun fusion did not entice us at first. The two styles are separate and it works. The menu changes regularly and the selections of tapas-like small dishes is always intriguing - stuff you don’t see elsewhere. I love the baked bone marrow. It sounds strange but it’s served in the bone with carmelized onions and brioche. I also go for the pork belly and octopus. The good thing is, you order many dishes so you can taste all of the chef’s cool ideas.

Mokomandy is small place so reservations are encouraged. The bar is simply outstanding. Lots of great cocktails with a knowledgeable and laid back staff. I highly recommend having dinner at the bar and watching the bar tender make delicious concoctions (the menu is the same at the bar and table side).

Love this place!

We were looking for something interesting in Sterling VA and came upon Mokomandy. Korean and Cajun?? We couldn’t resist. Once there we were happy to discover it’s not fusion but the two styles of Cuisine are separate. It’s very open and bright (bright lighting) which can sometimes be a turn-off but this worked. Our waiter was extremely knowledgeable with in-depth knowledge of the menu and preparations. They do quite a bit of Sous Vide which we found interesting and well executed. Baby octopus and pork belly. Sounds odd, yes but it was great. Fried chicken was excellent as was the brisket and the short rib. We were not disappointed and I recommend giving it a try if you’re in the area.

We always have a great experience at Mokomandy. The food is creative, well-prepared, and excellent. The drink selection is fantastic. The staff is friendly and attentive. In addition, they support our local schools with donations, which is really amazing! Be sure to make a reservation -- this place is HOT!

My wife and & went out with another couple to Mokomandy for the first time last weekend and we were all blown away by the wonderfully prepared small and medium dishes we tried, as well as the wonderful service (thumbs-up to Laurie who explained the menu and dishes to us). Hush puppies and cucumber salad are great snacks and the sliders, stuffed mushrooms, chicken paillard, and Korean BBQ ribs are simply outstanding small plates. The veal tacos were also very tasty, though we all wished for just a bit more heat from the jalapeno peppers to offset the sweet plum sauce within the taco. Both medium sized shrimp dishes (etoiuffle(?) and shrimp & grits) are also outstanding. The hand made drink menu is extensive and well-prepared. We'll be back soon!

The restaurant is in a strip mall in Sterling, VA. The restaurant was recommended yo us by my daughter. The strip mall is very ordinary but the restaurant is modern and pleasingly decorated. The entire staff is very polite, friendly and professional. We had reservation and were seated immediately upon arrival by the friendly hostess. Everything in the restaurant look and is clean. They have a very nice and well stocked bar.

It was our first time there and we found the large menu confusing. The server explained the meme to us and we were able to select three dishes that we shared. The first order of jambalaya was very salty to the point that it was not edible. Our server replace the order and the second order of jambalaya was delicious and was presented very nicely. The beef potstickers were great and nicely presented. Our last order was recommended by the friendly server and the pork belly was delicious.

We had an order of beignet which was as good as those in New Orleans.. We were not familiar with the wines they served and I thought the wines were quite expensive, They offered a large selection of reasonably priced beers in the drink menu as well as lots of mixed drinks.

The food was great and we will eat here again. I highly recommend this restaurant
