“Amazing place - cancelled end of trip to stay longer”
Reviewed 13 April 2012

Wow! What a great resort!
Based on Trip Advisor reviews, we stayed in a Colonial House which was really atmospheric. Since there were 5 of us, we had to get two rooms (max occupancy is 4), so we had an entire two story house with a suite on each floor. The suites has in room coffee and small fridges (but not a mini bar).
The ground floor room had a fireplace, and the houseman will come and build a wood burning fireplace if requested. Room service set up a round table in front of the fire for us, and we started the day with a lovely breakfast.
We stayed there during Easter, and the gated garden – complete with well – provided a perfect setting for our Easter Egg hunt.
Being right in the middle of the colonial area is really cool, though being in such a nice hotel is a bit of a negative in that we spent perhaps too much time in the spa and at the pool instead of visiting the colonial sites.
The spa charges a $25 fee for a day pass to use the facilities (large whirlpool, sauna, ice shower in locker rooms) , but it is included with spa/salon services so my hubby and boys each got $30 haircuts and I got a $30 manicure.
There are two outdoor pools – a quiet one and family one - plus an indoor one in a solarium with a Jacuzzi. The landscaping is beautiful, and the bar service was attentive.
We had planned on spending our last day of our east coast trip in Richmond to finish up the traveling History lesson, but the Williamsburg Inn was so comfortable we couldn’t leave.
The room rates are expensive, but everything else is reasonable, e.g. no resort fees, free parking, and reasonable rates from room service.

Room Tip: The colonial houses are unique and memorable.

If you've visited Colonial Williamsburg more than once, like we have, you come to understand to avoid the touristy hotels with tons of screaming kids filled in cholorinated pools. Nothing is worng with economy hotels, but even adults need quiet once in awhile. The Williamsburg Inn is where the Queen of England laid her head when she last visited CWI. It's 1800's brought current with most amenities provided quite nicely. When you tire from walking around dusty cobblestone streets with visitors and children packed in tightly in CWI, you need to walk into a nicely decorated lobby, relax with a good glass of Williamsburg wine and view the wysteria across the way for the Abby Rockefeller Musuem. Rooms are good, quite, clean, lovely attired and all within walking distance to the Marketplace. A good value.

Room Tip: Rooms away from bus drop circular drive are a good idea, and not to close to the banquet room too.

We were booked into the Brick House Tavern, which was very comfortable and had a great location. The concierge desk at the Inn was very nice, but could have been more forthcoming in pointing out to us the offerings for kids, such as the day-long scavenger hunt. The multi-day pass for guests booking thru Colonial Williamsburg and various promotional discounts at the shops and restaurants made it an excellent value, though the restaurants are pricier than expected for dinner. I'd definitely go back and do this again!

What a wonderful treat it was to stay here! Such an elegant colonial ambiance, and definitely 5-star treatment! We didn't arrive until 1 a.m. due to flight; but they were very gracious & our room was fantastic. A lovely garden right outside our window. A fresh rose in the bathroom at all times. When we went down to formal dining room for breakfast, they knew who we were. Very friendly & helpful. You just walk out the door (bellmen always stand by to open the door for you) & walk a block, & poof - you are back in the 18th century! Oh, one day I had friends coming to have lunch w/me at the Inn I hadn't seen in years. The bartender reserved the table I wanted & had a white rose at each place setting for them!!! Afterwards, we sat in a corner area of the large lobby to visit & they kept us supplied w/hot tea. I will always return to this very special place.

The cottages are the best option. Ask for one in front of the Inn. Many have wood burning FP's
and the staff will come and light. Room service was excellent too.

The hotel room was spacious, plush and elegant, and included free wi-fi and parking! The rooms reminded me of the Waldorf-Astoria. Colonial Williamsburg is a block away and is a great experience. If you stay in one of the Williamsburg properties you can get a discount on the formal tours of Williamsburg and can have your purchases delivered to your hotel room. Call and ask for a AAA discount. Also, if you stay in one of the hotels you will be offered a coupon to pick up a 75th anniversary gift at one of the shops which will include a 25 percent off coupon for a single purchase at one of the shops. Also, nearly each shop will offer a 10 percent discount off your next purchase at certain shops within Colonial Williamsburg. Around 88 structures are original and the rest are refurbished or are reproductions of buildings in Colonial Williamsburg (thanks to Rockefeller).

Room Tip: Ask for a AAA discount and an end room via phone.

This hotel is inside the historic district of colonial Williamsburg. We got three nights for the price of two, and discounted tickets to Williamsburg. The common areas and rooms were bright, airy and cheerful, and the staff was friendly. 24 hour room service, free access to the pool and gym, free wifi, ability to charge anything in the historic district to the room. The room was huge and clean and had bathrobes and slippers, which is a pleasant touch. Turndown service brought a complimentary bottle of mineral water and chocolates. Cons: the food (at restaurant and room service) was subpar; it tasted like Cisco. No on-demand movie rentals or premium channels. Turndown service wasn't until 8pm (can be problematic w small children). Thermostat didn't seem to control temp of room. Decor was a bit date
