“Great place, great value”

I love to stay at Hampton Inns - and this hotel is a perfect example why. We booked this hotel through the Busch Gardens website and it was awesome. The hotel staff were very welcoming and helpful with places/restaurants to visit in the area.

They have cookies and coffee 24/7 so if you have a random need for either one - they have you covered. They also have brochures and coupons for local venues so make sure to check them out.

The room was very clean and neat. It had a very nice location in the middle of all the action in Williamsburg. I do wish the beds were a little less stiff - but they had very comfy pillows.

Hampton Inn hotels rarely disappoint. Service was excellent, breakfast was OK, as expected with the standard menu of similar category hotels. The reason I gave it only 4 circles, is that the beds were not very comfortable. We were a family of 4, two children sleeping in one queen bed and two adults sleeping on the other. It is really difficult to sleep two adults on a queen mattress that moves all over the place when one person moves. I would suggest for them to change the mattresses to foam or other method that doesn't shake the whole bed when one moves.

The pool, was not very clean initially but this was corrected after we complained. Since we came off season the price was only $79.00. For that price, they deserve high rating.

Oh, the location - for those that want to visit colonial Williamsburg, it's only 10 minutes drive, or less from the main attraction.

We stayed there as a family of four. We were in the area for a soccer tournament. We arrived late in the evening and they had our room waiting for us. We got the room we reserved (King Bed suite w/ pull out couch). The staff was friendly and pointed us to a 7-Eleven and a couple of fast food restaurants nearby for a quick bite to eat since everything else was closed due to the hour. The room was spacious with plenty of room for the four of us. Flat panel TV and a desk to get some work done. WiFi internet in the room was good without issues. Small kitchen area with countertop, sink, frig, microwave and coffee maker. Lighting was good and A/C and heat was working well with simple wall mount settings.

Indoor pool and jacuzzi was good, clean and quiet. Breakfast in the morning was good but busy to the tournament. There was a long line for the waffle maker so the staff was making waffles in the kitchen and bringing them out to the waiting guests. Food was good and plenty. Everything tasted fresh. TV in the dining area was good and easy for all to see. Coffee station was available 24 hours. The staff was quick to accommodate our request for an additional blanket and a couple more towels.

My only complaint with the staff's recommendation of a restaurant. we were looking for a steak and seafood restaurant and we spotted two of them in the area. I inquired at the front desk which of the two was better and they instead steered me at a different restaurant. They even gave me a free desert or 10% off the food bill coupon (that was the only saving grace). The restaurant was a tourist trap (overpriced with average food, trying to be something they were not). The food bill was almost as much as my 2 night hotel stay.

Overall, a very nice property, in close proximity to everything, including historic Williamsburg, restaurants and shopping. Need a car but everything is close. I would stay again.

At the last minute we decided to take a three day history tour of Virginia. Bad news was it was same weekend as President's Weekend so most places were booked. But this turned out to be a good thing, because instead of staying in a pricier place, like a B&B or Hilton Garden Inn, we stayed at the Hampton Inn and was totally impressed. For about $100 we got a spacey King Suite. Clean, well appointed and comfortable. The next night we stayed at one of Colonial Williamsburg's colonial houses just to try out ye olde colonial experience. It was more like "old" experience. Like staying in a room at your grandmother's that hasn't changed since 1950. (Not 1776 as you would expect). Twice the price as the Hampton Inn at about a quarter of the quality. Next time, Hampton Inn all the way baby. Value for that price can't be beat. Only a short drive to Colonial Williamsburg. In no way inconvenient. Of course the downside is the breakfast is largely not for the health conscious -- mostly sugar and fat. But the oatmeal was not sugary, which was great. And plenty of decent coffee and tea. I'm a convert!

I've stayed at roughly half a dozen properties in Williamsburg and while the Hampton was not the least expensive, it provided considerable value over the cut-rate options that had come before.
Pros:
- Location is convenient to abundant dining options and supremely close to the Colonial Wburg visitors center.
- Breakfast is top-notch.
- Property appears to be very new and showing no signs of wear or tear, ill smells, etc.
- Bed is comfortable and bathroom is larger than average. TV is a modern flat-screen model.
- Front desk staff was exceptionally polite and helpful. Check-in/out was a breeze.
- Has both an indoor and outdoor pool.
- Detected almost no noise from adjoining rooms in any direction.
Cons:
- Internet access could be faster; the bandwidth wasn't great even at off-peak times.
- Room did not have a refrigerator.
- If using Hilton points to book the room, it runs strangely "expensive" even though the nightly cash rate is very fair.

Bottom line: If you eat breakfast, the breakfast alone is easily worth a $20-25/nt premium (for 2+ people) over the bargain-level options and you'll get the significant cleanliness and quality upgrades for "free" in the process. I'd stay here again in an instant.

We stayed in this Hampton Inn over the Veteran's Day 2011 weekend and found that our stay was delightful. Our king suite averaged $112. per night, which was reasonable considering the overall experience. The oversize room was quiet, clean and spacious for two. Everything worked fine, which is not always true of TVs and alarm clocks in hotels in this price range. The bed was comfortable. The bathroom was spacious and clean; the towels were adequate. I enjoyed using the hot tub and the pool on two occcasions. The free breakfast was above average - better than at most Holiday Inn Express hotels. There was plenty of parking between the front and back lots.

Room Tip: Our suite on the road side of the buidling was very quiet.
