Owner description: At almost 4,000 feet, the highest golf course in the state of Virginia is known for cool summer temperatures and challenging plays.

Very hard course for the older and average golfer. The woman of the trip really had a hard time with the course.
Pretty course and nice people.

My hubby & I seek out mountainous golf courses, b/c we like the adventure of good mtn golf. Devils Knob was very beautiful and very well maintained, and relatively easy. It was also really busy. We both play the reg men's tees (white tees), and we are above average golfers.

Most tees are elevated and most greens are also elevated. So, u'r playing up and down golf literally so to speak. They have a mixture of blue grass, rye, and Bermuda, I believe. It was a little rainy the day we played 36 holes, but it still was enjoyable.

It's enjoyable, but not to the point that we'd stay there again for the game. Our accommodations were miserable... so, ck reviews before you go.

We were disappointed that the views were not that great f/ the course, and that's important to us when playing mountainous courses The staff was very cordial and helpful. They also have a really good practice range and putting area. And, there are beautiful views off the deck of the restaurant that overlooks the 18th green.

Fantastic golf course carved into the blue ridge mountains. It's relatively short so if you hit a straight ball you have a chance. However, the greens have a lot of unanticipated breaks. Located at 3800 feet above sea level it's the perfect course for June, July and August. It's great in the fall too when the leaves are turning.

We played with a group of 8 and had a great afternoon. It is a narrow course and easy to lose balls, but if you enjoy being outside with beautiful views and wooded areas, this is the course for you. It is more difficult than Stoney Brooke in the valley, but DK is located on top of the mountain and convenient if you are staying up there. The staff were pleasant and helpful. Just know what to expect before you play. Also - you can't beat the price - an affordable family outing for us.
