“Comfortable and clean”
Reviewed 24 October 2011

My husband and I needed somewhere comfortable to stay in the Roslyn area for our pilgrimage to the location of "Northern Exposure'. We chose the Snowcap Lodge based largely on the reviews here, combined with having looked at what else was available in the area.
It was okay. I prefer a bit more of a luxury experience if I'm going away somewhere, but this really does seem to be the most comfortable and up to date place in the area.
Our room was clean, the staff were friendly.. otherwise it was a pretty ordinary place.

Room Tip: This hotel doesn't have an elevator, which might make it less convenient for people with mobilit...

On our way to Seattle, we were looking for a newer, very clean place. This is it. Nice people & easy to find. Close to grocery store.

Room Tip: Rooms away from lobby & pool are more quiet.

You won't find a better place to stay in the Cle Elum, Roslyn, and Easton area. In the past most BW's were so so. But I have to say, this one felt really high(er) end. I'll explain below in detail

Background: I travelled on a 2 day adventure to go mountain biking at Lake Kachees Ridge Trail, and then go Kayaking on Lake Cle Elum the second day. In finding a good reputable lodging, I found this place. I was impressed.

The Property: The premise was not huge but was very clean and looks like it was renovated in and out - or brand new. It is literally across the street from a Safeway (with gas station), Burger King, McDonalds, Mexican and Thai restaurants, and of course Subway. Plenty of parking too.

Indoor Public areas: The pool, hot tub, exercise area was clean and importantly didn't feel humid or grungy (like most hotels), the pool was heated too. The eating area was large and clean and looked organized. The front desk/lobby area was really impressive with a nice sitting area with a fireplace. It did feel like a LODGE!!

Now ...onto the Room: I got the single queen bed (smaller of the types of rooms). But I must say it was quite big. Along with the bed (which was very soft and comfy, down comforter, duvet, 4 soft pillows). I had a leather loveseat, a table, and a separate computer desk. The TV was large (though not a flatscreen - no big deal). All the counters were real granite tops. Even the bathroom floor and shower walls were covered in granite slabs. Very rich looking. I had a fridge, microwave, two telephones, alarm clock, and the usual ironing stuff. The carpets are actually soft and not tacky.

Before I forget, this place does NOT have WIRELESS Internet - at least in the rooms. The rooms will have two fast Ethernet (100mb) RJ-45 ports (no cable provided). So bring your own. Like me, I didn't so I had to find the Radio Shack in town and buy a Ethernet cable (7ft) for $7.99.

-> For those retentive types....as I mentioned that this hotel might have been renovated recently - or rebuilt. I have to admit they did a really good job if renovated. What I mean is....have you ever noticed when hotels say they are renovated, the paint job is lousy, over brushed, missed spots, etc. and the fit and finish are crooked, looking very rushed. Well, this place is like brand new. Either case....I am very pleased with this place.

Overall, the staff is very nice. They gave me perfectly located room - per request, so that I can get my bicycle in through the side door to my room. I have no complaints. I love this place.

PS: this hotel has a eco-green theme. The toilet paper is from recycled paper, the flush is limited flow, the shower-gel, shampoo, and conditioner are no longer in those tiny plastic bottles, but in a 3 dispencer unit in the shower/tub. All the light bulbs are flourescent - so they will take a little time to fully light up. lol. btw, I paid $91/nt mid-week rate using AAA discount.

Thanks Best Western on Cle Elum. I hope all BW's will become like this.

Room Tip: All rooms are good !!

We stayed at the BW Snowcap last weekend so we could attend the Rush concert at the nearby Gorge. The rooms appear be fairly recently updated/remodeled with granite counter tops and marble in the bath. Our room was a large king suite which would have been plenty big for a family or 2 couples (separate area with sleeper couch). The shower was a nice surprise with a rain-shower style shower head mounted on the ceiling. Everything was clean and even the refrigerator was quiet.
In the morning they have the usual continental breakfast, however the service was excellent. The friendly attendant was busy the whole time, replenishing coffee and other items, assisting guests and cleaning up. And it was available from 7am-11am-- great for us late sleepers!

After spending the day at Snoqualmie Summit we checked in to enjoy a swim and hottub soak. The hotel is clean. The mattresses weren't the greatest but I've slept on worse. The pillows, however, are a totally different thing entirely; we all agreed they are horrible.

Very quiet, I don't know if it is always this quiet or if it was due to the thick layer of fresh snow. The breakfast room didn't seem to be staffed so the tables were not being cleaned after use.

Los Cabos restaurant is across the parking lot and is very good.
