Worldmark property has a few good places...Get Delux cottages only. The other units were dingy, dark and 1950's era cheap motel units. Worldmark advertized ours as "ocean view". There was not only no view, but our "hillside suite" faced solid trees, an alley type road with the resorts dumpsters. We moved to the lakeside cottage and were kept awake until early morning by people in a unit above us, every step make loud creaking noises. Worldmark was not forthcoming on advertizing these units. We were unable to leave because we were on an island with no recourse but to stay.

My husband and I are Worldmark owners.
We have been extremely satisfied in the past with our experiences at different resorts. We have never had a complaint, as they are EXTREMELY nice resorts. However, we just booked a trip for some of our good friends to go to Deer Harbor. We were proud to show off our high class resort property. At least that's what we thought.... our friends were COMPLETELY turned off by Deer Harbor. First of all, they paid $103 to stay in what is called a "Historical Cottage". They said that when they got there and saw it, they wouldn't have paid $50 to stay in it. It was previously an apple picker's cabin, and they said it was very rustic and cabin like. Not only were they not impressed with their "cabin", the resort employee on duty TOLD them that there had been a water leak the night before in THIS cabin. They said it smelled extremely much like mildew, and the windows were open to air out the smell. They requested to move to a different room, and were charged $50 MORE to upgrade to a nicer room that still doesn't sound like it was up to Worldmark standards. I, to say the least, as a Worldmark owner was embarrassed that Worldmark would even OFFER such a place. Secondly, I am not happy that Worldmark refuses to do anything about such a terrible experience. I WOULD NOT RECOMMEND GOING TO THIS RESORT. IF YOU ARE EXPECTING WORLDMARK STANDARDS, DO NOT GO HERE.

We stayed in one of the deluxe cabins, very comfortable, clean, and recently remodeled. The hot tub in the bathroom was a real treat in the chilly fall days on Orcas Island. The king bed was roomy, but not very comfortable and neither was the couch in the living room - adequate, but barely. Any complaints were overshadowed by the incredible pristene view from the cottage of a small rocky harbor with boats in the marina.
The staff was very friendly and helpful and served a tasty continental breakfast in a typical Pacific Northwest lobby with a stone fireplace, comfortable tables and a terrific view.
We were fortunate to have been there when many trees still had incredible color. This island is quintessentially Northwest, huge cedar, maple, and fir trees, small rolling hills and grey rock beaches. Moran State Park is a real treat with hikes through forest and around a small lake. The town has charming shops in old, but refurbished buildings. Excellent choices are offered in food from gourmet to a market with organic food. If you want a feel of the best of the Northwest , this is the place to go.

Hello,
My girlfriend and I really enjoy our stay at the Resort at Deer Harbor. This property was, recently, purchased by the WorldMark/Wynham company. So, its been upgraded somewhat.
We stayed in Unit #117 which is considered the 'Honeymoon Suite'! Its actually the garden suite. Its a stand alone unit (not shared walls). The unit was clean, comfortable, and feature a jetted tub, two fireplaces, and a hot tub on the deck! The wonderful and very helpful Debbie checked us in and offerred us cookies, too! There is a good continental breakfast. The property is about 8 miles for the Orcas Island ferry terminal. I would recommend bringing food along for your stay. There is an excellent restaurant at the Deer Harbor Inn near the resort. Except for a few minor issues (poorly stocked local store, bad afternoon front desk help, no room service-you clean up after yourself), I would highly recommend this resort!

Booked reservation through WorldMark (Trendwest Resorts). Had a free one night's coupon from a previous stay at Trendwest's Seaside Resort which had gone awry. Arrived late, after dark, found our room (#115) but nearly killed ourselves trying to walk a very dark pathway that was not lit. Had a hard time finding our room! Screen door was broken, front porch and most of this building was in poor shape, windows filthy. Interior looked like it had been recently upgraded, but sparsely furnished and not the least bit homey or comfortable. TV reception was horrendous, lighting horrible. Thought we were going to be in a deluxe cabin, but there was nothing deluxe about it. View was okay, but porch was not very enticing to sit on. The bed was so bad my husband had to sleep on the tiny two person couch. Was not at all the romantic getaway we'd hoped for! Room 115, 116 and 117 were together in one building and all looked dumpy! Hot tub on deck but not private. Heard people partying on their boats in the harbor most of the night.
