The setting is every bit as compelling as the photos suggest. It's a bit tedious driving from the house to anywhere such as a restaurant or grocery store. The house interior is adequate but dated; a facelift would be a big improvement. However, the common spaces were quite spacious. Our group of six adults never felt crowded. There are plenty of windows to view the water.
Supplies were minimal. Some in our group expected bath soap and were disappointed. Only one extra batch towel and no extra hand towels were provided for the three bathrooms. The bath rugs for the bathrooms were too small and they appeared to be unclean. Due to their fragile condition, It seemed unlikely they survive a machine washing. There was no washable towel-like bath mat in any of the bathrooms.
Some in our group especially enjoyed the canoe, although it is usable only at mid-tide. At low tide, there is mud from the wall at the edge of the yard to the water. At high tide it would be difficult and likely dangerous to try to launch the canoe.
The primary disappointment was the unresponsive property manager before and during the rental. Before the rental they ignored my request for early access to the house code. We arrived in cool weather with no functioning heat in the bedrooms. I had to diagnose and address the problem with no guidance or on-site help from the property manager. The WIFI stopped working and again the property manager was not helpful. We were able to get another undocumented WIFI working. Had there been a serious problem or annoyance that we could not resolve, I would not trust the property manager to resolve the issue.
The view and home were so great we didn't really ever want to leave, or need to. We had wonderful weather which made the stay even better.
The house is on Raft Island, a 15 minute drive from old Gig Harbor and the commercial area. I wanted to say closer so I could walk, but the different driving routes to old town were interesting. We stayed while it was a bit cold, so wasn't able to enjoy the waterfront amenities, like the canoe, kayak and paddleboards and seating on the emassive deck facing the water. But we were able to enjoy the views from inside the house from the kitchen/dining, living, and master on the first floor, and one of the bedrooms on the bottom floor. Great wireless internet and they have a smart tv so you can cast from your phone / tablet if you can't figure out how the TV works :) Would love to visit in the summertime! And bring the family since there's tons of room.
