We came here for a celebration dinner with 6 people. Firstly it's not cheap - shared starters, one main course each and 3 bottles of wine between us was $105 per person before tip. However the food is really excellent and the service is great (eg. free dessert to share when we were too full to order any, and free dessert wine for everyone). We started with a shared appetizer platter which they made with enough for everyone to get one of everything. There was a lot on the platter including tiger prawns, Italian meats and cheeses. Really delicious, no idea how much it was though. For main course 2 had the halibut special and both loved it, 2 had the seafood pasta special with lobster tail, I had another seafood pasta dish in a saffron broth, and one had the pasta primavera (vegetables). All were excellent, large portions, beautifully cooked and flavored. A couple of things to note: 1) we brought our own wine thinking we could pay corkage but we couldn't; 2) it is REALLY dark in there, they do put small flashlights on the tables so you can read the menu but we could hardly see each other. All in all it was an excellent experience and our server Sarah was fantastic. Great special occasion spot.

We come here every chance we get. To celebrate a special occasion, entertain friends from out of town or just because we are in the mood for amazing food. Montalcino always deliver the best meal. Fernando and his staff do an amazing job taking care of you the moment you walk in their front door to the last bite of the tiramisu.
We brought our family from Italy here a few years ago, and they all agreed the food was one of the best they have had and so authentic it could have been served back home. Just recently we had friends from Spain and Germany, both were so pleased with their meals, they talked about their experience for days. There are 100 reasons why montalcino has been voted the best in Washington.. you need to find out for yourself.

We dine at montalcino several times during the year, sometimes it's for a special occasion but more often, it's our spontaneous dinning choice. Montalcino is by far one of the most popular restaurant in the area so it's highly recommended to have reservation before you get to their door. We've been fortunate to be seated without prior arrangements, thankfully, we have learned the best time and days to visit . Fernando and the staff are the best in making you feel welcome and they make sure your experience while dinning is extraordinary.
We bring a lot of of out of town guest to montalcino, including friends/family from Italy. Over and over again, montalcino delivers the most authentic and best Italian food - as confirmed by our Italian guest. All three said the meal they enjoyed at montalcino was amazing and could have been served in one of the finest restaurant IN ITALY! And while you savor every bite, enjoy the live music and allow yourself to feel as if you're dinning on a street cafe in Florence or Tuscany! Yes, you need to save room for the tiramisu.. homemade by Mama Nardone.

Wonderful meal here! Service friendly and polite. Very small (maybe 9 tables?) so reservations definitely recommended. Italian food of the absolute highest quality. Cannot believe we had such a terrific meal here in such an unassuming little place. Meatballs and pasta were top notch and the complimentary homemade provolone given is the best I've ever had! Have nothing but the highest praise to give. Just go, you will not be disappointed!!

As the title of this review states, I'm from the east coast and have a real bias concerning high quality Italian food. It is not that chains, like Maggiano's, are evil. They're OK, but that's it ... they're just OK, good for larger gatherings and kids with large portions and consistent "OK" dishes. I have and will continue to eat at such places. But, when my wife and I want a "REAL" Italian dinner, one with truly authentic dishes, literally cooked by Mama (who is often in the kitchen), there's really one choice. Montalcino Ristorante in Issaquah! The place is very small, tucked away on a side street, the service is warm and first rate, and you'd better make a reservations. The menu changes regularly. We've now been here several times and never, never, have been anything but delighted. Not cheap, but worth every penny!!
