Quality high, practically on beach, and very friendly staff, free bicycles for touring, free DVDs for room. Excellent values- compostable cups downstairs w/tea as well as coffee that is better than most fancy coffee shops (and organic and fair trade), high quality bulk non-chemical soap, conditioner, etc in rooms. Extras that many don't use are available upon request (e.g.hair dryer) Rooms functional with a certain style that won't appeal to people seeking chain hotel plushness, but will appeal to many no carpets that collect mold and sand, If you want to go farther - clerks will even take compost to be used at local farm! Restaurant to change management mid-2012 w/wood fired pizzas and other items to appeal to families and broader group of diners (had been expensive meat, seafood before).

My family and I had a great time at Long Beach, and at this hotel! We had a great view, and loved how "green" and environmentally aware the staff at Adrift were. We brought our two children with us, but this would be a very romantic place for two, as well. Yes, it is very "minimalistic", but very hip, trendy and clean! We would definitely recommend this hotel to others, and stay again! It was so close to the beach, the boardwalk, and within walking distance to "downtown" Long Beach. We ate at Castaways Restaurant, and it was amazing! Delicious seafood chowder and clams, and great service too!

I could tell by the pictures and the other reviews that the furnishings were "minimalistic" but I did not expect to see apple crate type boxes to be the predominate feature throughout the room. It looked like they ran out of money and decided to use wooden boxes as end tables, coffee table, bedside and even nailed to the wall. The pictures showed a nice area carpet but there was nothing in our suite except the gray floor. The bathrooms had an odd absorbant flooring that looked like the linoleum had been torn out and not replaced. The suite was very spacious. There was coffee in the room and the view was nice. We'd asked for the 3rd floor suite but were told it was blocked because of construction going on above that suite in the restaurant. We were surprised when we heard people above us that night when we went to bed. Unfortunately, they were night owls and did quite a bit of walking around. The floors creaked so we could clearly hear them.

It was our 10th anniversary so we drove from Vancouver, BC to Long Beach - an easy 6.5 hour drive with lots of scenery. Our 2 night stay at Adrift was wonderful. The staff was very pleasant and accommodating. We liked the ECO friendly environment/theme of the hotel. The free organic coffee is excellent not to mention the fruit water and organic tea. We suggest you stay on the top (4th) floor as the floors are thin. Our room was quiet and we were not disturbed by noise from adjoining rooms. The free bicycles are perfect for touring the beach and the surrounding areas. The beach itself is fantastic and we are planning to return when the weather is warmer. For an excellent dinner you have to try The Depot - it was soooo delicious we went back the second night. The hotel restaurant has been taken over by the hotel and it was under renovation so we were not able to try it out.

Room Tip: choose a room in the main building on the top floor

We received a groupon for this hotel for a Christmas gift. Our friend thought we would be able to relax after going to Seattle for doctor appointments which are always at least two long & full days of poking and prodding. We were very excited about being able to relax & to have time to get caught up on classwork & computer work. Over the years our dogs have become quite the travelers and have accepted that we no longer go camping but stay in hotels.
So we left the Residence Inn after three nights and traveled to Long Beach. It was an enjoyable and easy drive. The hotel was close to the beach and you could easily walk to it. There were bikes available for you to use and they also had a nice selection of DVD's and games available to take back to your room all at no charge.
We were in the East building and had a ground floor, handicapped room even though we are not handicapped. We opted for beer and they let us exchange the black cans (that we did not care for) for different ones (Blue Heron was the favorite) and a box of organic candy. The room was equipped with a queen size bed, small round table, two metal chairs, a 10" wide shelf to hold a small television (no channel guide) and DVD player, a coat rack. small closet shelf and rod, and three wooden boxes affixed to the walls to hold the alarm clock, telephone, galvanized ice bucket and two glass four ounce glasses. The walls were painted a soft sea green and the curtains were a darker green which were not quite big enough to cover the windows. The bathroom had a standard size tub & toilet, three bath towels, two hand towels and two wash cloths. Being in a handicapped room the bathroom was large enough for a wheelchair to easily fit into it. There were full size bottles of shower gel, shampoo, and conditioner which were not full, but contained enough for us. The conditioner was for oily hair which we do not have a problem with and the shower gel was lavender which I really liked as was the lotion.
The weather was exciting with rain, sun, sleet, and wind. We are hoping it was the wind that set off car alarms during the night and also gave the people above us insomnia as they were awake most of the night pacing. They also had their shoes on so their pacing was even louder. Floors were cold and we don't believe there was any insulation in the ceiling. Carpet in the area with the table and bed would be nice and would probably cut down on the noise level.
The housekeeper was helpful and was able to answer questions for us. We were there at the time the groupon was going to expire and when in the lobby the phones were ringing and we did have to wait for help but it did give us time to look at the products they had for sale. Uniquely scented candles, the lotions, shampoos, etc that we had available in our rooms, organic candy, beer and wines. They had cold lemon or lime filtered water available in the lobby. They filled our gallon water jug with filtered water whenever we needed it.
Pros - Location
Price (Groupon $96.00 for two week nights)
Pets allowed with a reasonable fee of $15.00
Bikes, DVD, Games available at no charge
Staff
Organic Soaps, shampoos, lotions were the only items made in USA
Filtered Water available
Many photo opportunities with various ocean birds and Bald Eagles, etc
Cons - No information in room on anything except the notice of 20% charge if any of the bottles of shampoo, conditioner, lotion
or shower gel were taken.
Cold floors
Uncomfortable and cold chairs
Lack of insulation caused neighbors to be noisy as I am sure we were noisy to them
No room to work in room (small round table that could hold 2 laptops but no files)
No place for storage or to put clothes
No place for recycling so put it in the trash
Other then the organic soaps, lotions, and shampoos, everything else in the room was
made in CHINA, MEXICO, PAKISTAN, INDONESIA, ETC. Many items came from IKEA.

Would we come back? Probably not. Adrift is not responsible for the weather, but it was difficult to relax in our room, there
was not sufficient room to work at the table, the cold floors, and noise from lack of insulation was a little much. There was no information in our room for things to do, restaurants, channel guide, or hotel/spa information. Come to think of it there was not even a do not disturb sign to hang on the door. Some of the rooms have the same key as we found out when someone opened the door next to us and they were in the wrong room

Room Tip: Get a top floor room
