Adrift Hotel and Spa

We've stayed in lots of places in Long Beach and the Adrift is one of the best for three major reasons: 1) It has an awesome view of the ocean (Room #307). Most hotels only give a view of the dunes...Ask for an ocean view when you make your reservation! 2) The hotel is located right in the middle of the Discovery Bike trail and they provide complimentary bikes. We rode in one direction and stopped at the hotel for the complimentary lemon lime water in the lobby before riding in the other direction... the entire ride takes between 1.5-2 hours and the views are stunning!!!) 3) Free organic coffee, teas and fruit water in the lobby all day long.
Our two teens loved it because the room had an ihome for them to recharge and play music from...also they liked the lobby music, The Shins, were playing one time. We appreciate that the hotel is green and offered eco friendly products in the room...would love to see recycle and compost bins in the room. We loved the casual simplicity of the lobby and rooms, and the message painted on our wall, they vary from room to room. Since we all have food allergies we greatly appreciated the vegan and gluten free breakfast basket and treats in the lobby. Loved the vegan Theo chocolates that came with our Groupon deal. Hope the restaurant will have gluten free, vegan options because NO WHERE else in Long Beach offers this. We are going to stay here again, and next time will ask for a room with a fridge and microwave.

Room Tip: Go for a room with an ocean view!

We upgraded to an "ocean view" room. We could barely see the ocean but had an excellent view of a hotel across the road that had an excellent view of the ocean. This was the worst living social deal we have ever purchased. The web site is very misleading. The decor is early cheap, wooden boxes nailed on the walls as shelves. No hooks, no storage, no chest of drawers. You have to share shower supplies with other guests. If I thought they would have done it, I would have asked for my money back. I wish I had read the reviews before booking. PLEASE don't make the mistake we did. Run from this deal as fast as you can. P.S... There is no spa or workout room. No pool, no sauna, no way!

Room Tip: There are no good rooms in this hotel.

My wife and I spent a couple days at the Adrift getting a fantastic deal with Bloomspot. We opted for an upgrade in the main building which gave us wifi and a fridge. The room was large, comfortable, and extremely clean, and still a great deal even with the additional fee. We did check out the original room we paid for. It had an ocean view and was entirely satisfactory. Determined to succeed the staff was helpful and friendly and provided a lot of extras: a breakfast basket one morning, a basket with wine and the fixings for s'mores at another time. They provided wood and folding chairs if you're interested in making a beach fire. Also, bikes are avialable for your use.

And, when I made the reservation I requested warmth and sunshine. The forecast called for rain both days, but the receptionist delivered the beutiful weather I requested.

They also had good TV where I could watch the Mariner's game in contrast to other Washington hotels that subscribe to a certain kind of hotel television with limited channels.

We will definitely come back again

Except for the beds (which are very good)and the lighting, this motel is stark and uninviting in a modern?, rough style.
On arrival, the lobby appeared to be under construction with its concrete floors, uninviting furniture and raw lumber look. The staff in the lobby were very friendly and helpful.
We stayed in the east building on the ground floor and it was very noisy from the floor above.
With a linoleum floor, metal chairs and the bare minimum of furniture and no wi-fi, it was not anywhere we wanted to spend much time. There are no towel bars to hang towels at the sink and there are badly patched walls and places needing patching.
The complimentary breakfast is almost impossible to obtain. We had to wait until 8:30 on the morning before we could even order it and then wait another 20 minutes for it to arrive-not for early risers! It appears that it is designed to discourage people from requesting it.

Used a groupon to come for a romantic getaway. I was so disappointed. I'm not sure If they stick the groupon buyers away, but we were in a different building, one not pictured online. Our room was teeny, bed was hard as a rock. I can't emphasize how hard the bed was. Worst sleep ever.

The rooms pictured online look nothing like the one we were in, and having no place to put our things left us with so much more to be desired.

Also, the breakfast basket came two hours after I requested it, and only when I called to remind them. We felt forgotten about- very low customer service. We didnt even stay for our second noght. Don't stay here, there are so many great spaces along the coast that offer what they advertise.

We got the Living social deal which was how we learned about the Adrift Hotel.
The staff was pleasant and the price was right but....:

I upgraded to a superior ocean view room but was dissipointed to look out the window to see (and have see us) the huge timeshare complex next door. There is no patio which makes the room feel cloister phobic and the bed is not oriented to look out at the partial ocean view?!! The room was spare, cold, dim lighting with industrial fittings and homemade partical board furnishings. I banged and cut my shin on the bed! The room smelled of dog (great if you're a dog owner I suppose..)

The bedding was thin and pillows cheep, which left me with a stiff neck.

The coffee service was optional and brought in a basket. The glass coffee pot was chipped up and the maker leaked and had a broken lid--how could the staff not notice?

Also...Long Beach if you haven't visited, has a town/shops oriented straight down the center of the peninsula. That means, there are few if any restaurants with an ocean view. We came to the beach to view some beach! It was also a beautiful day and could not find one restaurant that had outside seating.

We finally drove to Astoria where we have been many times (thus wanting to try somewhere new) and found many
restaurants with views... Also we wished we were staying at the beautiful Cannery Pier Hotel where we had stayed before...it is on the water in Astoria, central, amazing continental breakfast and luxurious in comparison to the Adrift.

To sum up, spend a little more and get a lot more at the cannery pier hotel in Astoria
I
