“First Anniversary Visit”
Reviewed 24 October 2011

My husband and I stayed at the Cedar Cove Inn for our 1-year anniversary. We traveled up from Arizona to get a change from the desert. The place was beautiful and charming. The views are spectacular and Kathy and Gil are very nice. The breakfasts were wonderful as well. We would highly recommend this to anyone.

We've been here twice now, once with one other couple (in June 2011), then with two other couples (September 2011). Both times Kathy and Gil were very helpful, accommodating, and unobtrusive. They've done a fantastic job with the building and grounds. The breakfasts are out of this world. If you don't mind walking up a steep hill, you can get here from Seattle on foot using the Seattle ferry and the Bremerton-Port Orchard foot ferry. Many wonderful places to eat in Port Orchard within walking distance (again with the hill). Both times we got out our calendars to see when we could come again. The sitting areas are comfortable, the beds are great, the views of the Olympic mountains are fabulous. I love both levels of the wrap-around porch. A Seattle arts group had their annual dinner there at the same time we were there and we experienced no conflict, and rather enjoyed watching and listening to the music. To those who had bad experiences with weddings, perhaps a little more coordination and setting of expectations on both sides would have been helpful.

The Cedar Cove Inn was the venue for a 10th Anniversary Gala Fundraiser for Western Washington Center for the Arts on the evening of September 10th, 2011. This particular site was chosen not only for it's convenient location, but also because we thought the beautiful inn with its wrap-around covered porches, gorgeous grounds, and breathtaking views would provide the perfect background for an event that we intended to be elegant and classy. The inn itself is the epitome of tasteful, with surrounding gardens that are both refined and inviting. We were able to set up tables on the lawn to seat 110 guests for a sit down meal. A small patio in one corner of the lawn provided the perfect location for a bar to serve beer and wine, and the porch provided an ideal "stage" for live musical performers and an auctioneer. While perfect weather certainly helped, it was the venue that really made it possible for us to have such a hugely successful event. The setting turned out to be lovely and pleasant beyond everyone's expectations. The owners of the inn, Gil and Kathy, were available to assist during the day while we were setting up and also during the event, helping to ensure that things went smoothly and that it was an enjoyable and memorable evening for everyone.

We have been to the Cedar Cover many times. The owners have done a great job making the environment of the Cedar Cove welcoming and peaceful. The views are great and the rooms elegant. We will return to the Cedar Cove Inn many times in the future! Thank you for your hospitality!

I recently attended a large Wedding reception here, and stayed the night. We are local people who wanted a chance to stay in one of the most beautiful homes in the area. The atomsphere is inviting, the view is gorgeous and Kathy and Gil Provided a wonderful Breakfast. If you are looking for a historical home that has been lovingly restored, if you appreciate craftsmanship you will love this venue. Fun place to sit on the porch in the sunshine and sip your wine. Beds were comfy and Clawfoot tub a fun choice for a bath.

Room Tip: We stayed in the Sidney room. We also sat around the fire in the cabin, guitarist sang songs and we...

I can completely see how this B&B would be an amazing place for a lovely couples escape. However, the owners are not ready - whatsoever - to have their home be a wedding venue. "Stuffy" is an understatement. Not one of us felt welcome as guests, especially the day after the wedding. During the set up, if they were not hovering around us they were lurking and staring from the top window of their house. After, there were snide remarks, cold shoulders, and the FASTEST turn down service I've ever seen, just to get us out of there. We weren't a crazy bunch, we weren't overly loud and were relatively calm compared to other weddings I've been to, but the owners just don't present themselves as wedding venue appropriate. They seem like great people who have done amazing things with the place, but if you're looking for a laid back, calm experience - you may want to look elsewhere.

A group of 15 friends, largely couples, took over Cedar Cove Inn, a B&B in Port Orchard, for a weekend. This place is gorgeous! The rooms are generous, each with their own period bathroom, the kitchen a gourmet chef's delight! Cathy and Gil, the owners took this place and completely restored it, while modernizing the kitchen. Go to the website (www.cedarcoveinn.com)and look at the photos. The work and love invested are readily apparent. The garden is beautiful! As hosts, they are gracious and hospitable. We didn't get to sample their breakfasts as we took over all the rooms and did our own cooking. The house has wrap around decks on the first and second floors with seating to watch the sunset or sit with wine and snack in the afternoon/evening or with coffee in the morning.
A beautiful setting for a wedding, family reunion or just reserving a room for a romantic get away or with friends. There are good restaurants in town.

Unfortunately, the view across the water is of the Bremerton naval yard, but even so, I can't wait to go back! Easy access from Seattle; take the Southworth ferry from Fauntleroy and then drive 15020 minutes west to Port Orchard.

Room Tip: I think all rooms have a view.
