So glad someone in Spokane is making French macarons. Everything else looks amazing and someday I will indulge. This bakery is tucked away in the back corner of the Commons. Tourists might not realize it is there. It is worth checking out while shopping around at the Commons.

This place needs to step it up and move beyond common. Very disappointing, with a very unimaginative offering of product. Flavors are bland, selection limited, quality missing. Plus person behind the counter was rude, disengaged, and should not work in retail.

Conveniently located in the Saranac Commons off a trendy street (W Main Ave) where there are plenty of retail shops and restaurants. The Saranac commons is an artistic, open-concept building that hosts Common Crumb Artisan Bakery, Mediterrano, Caffé Affogato and of course - Black Label Brewery,

Head to the back of the building upon entering and on the left hand side you will find the bakery. The open air common-area space has no defining breaks between the business and that allows for a much more welcoming inviting area. The Brewery area primarily has the majority of seating but it's a general seating concept so all patrons may use any seating area space.

The pastries and baked good had a great eye appealing look but I found the three varieties of pastries we selected to be right at the average mark. Again, do not let the rating misguide you as they have plenty of items and my wife and I only selected three. As stated they were good but did not rank as superb.

Business at the convention center broke for lunch so I go on walkabout. I spot the Main Market thinking I could grab something there then spot this place. Got a veggie sandwich and a few of the macaroons (cause who can resist). Pros-Good bread makes a good sandwich and this was GOOOD bread. I have Julia Child in my head reminding me that a little bit that is good is much better than a large portion of average or bad. So, for the meek and mild sandwich to be just that much more elevated...nice. The macaroons were a very nice treat and to top it off there was the offer to pair the sammie with some fresh brew next door. The sandwich was a decent price for the level of yum it delivered. Cons- There was nothing to really round out the sammie as a lunch meal. I did not really mind but if your are looking for a side pickle...keep looking...this is a bakery not a deli. The macaroons are pricey but I have not come across a good one that is not. Bottom line- Glad I stopped in. Can easily recommend the sandwiches (get them warmed there) and would encourage exploration of all the other yummies in the case.
