“Great suite with large indoor and outdoor pool. Close to many actvities.”
Reviewed 3 January 2012

Spent one night in Beckley WV on our way back home. Our family of 6 found this hotel to be a perfect stop and also realized it is a great place to begin exploring all the activities around Beckley. Will stay longer (to visit rather than a stopover). The hotel is typical suite, clean and functional. First room had bathroom issues and was promptly placed in another room. Morning breakfast was decent. A bit crowded but I think that was just the holiday rush. Staff was friendly and helpful. Kids loved the very large (by hotel standard) indoor/outdoor pool. Hit tub was also inside and outside. Free Internet, easy access off highway, and plenty of free parking makes this a great hotel in Beckley.
If looking for a great lunch or dinner place, go to Fujiyama hibachi grill on the other side of the expressway. Inexpensive hibachi and great sushi.

We stayed at this hotel on the way to see family for Christmas. This hotel was outdated, dark feeling, and dirty. It was way too expensive for the quality of the room. We will not be back.

Was nervous about finding a place to stay in W. Virginia on roadtrip between TX and Ontario. I relied on Tripadvisor and was not disappointed. While price was a bit on the high side, was very satisfied with the facility. The exterior looks large and stately, grounds are well-kept with outdoor porch and rocking chairs. Inside was just as roomy and breakfast area huge with good variety of hot and continental food, including gravy and biscuits, scrambled eggs. (Of course next morning was ridiculously crowded with barely room to move- felt like I was at camp again- but must have been a full house with kids' sports teams.) Rooms were nicely appointed and clean, fridge and microwave, comfortable beds and pillows. Used their indoor pool which was large for a hotel, I thought. There was some noise at night but it was pretty light considering the number of guests and kids i saw at bfast the next mornig- doesn't bother me anyway, we had 3 kids of our own with us too. If traveling through again I would seriously consider staying again vs. looking for a cheaper alternative. A couple nights on the road coming and going can add up, so we pick and choose. This is a good option in this area.

For Beckley this is not a bad place to stay. We booked a one room suite for a 3 night stay while visiting family in the area. It was nice having a separate room from the bedroom so you don't disturb someone if they are trying to sleep. Our room also had a small refrigerator and microwave. We were disappointed that there were no plates, utensils or paper towels in the small kitchenette. The bathroom fan was extremely noisy and not very effective. The sink was cracked and stained. The lamps in the room looked like they were found at the local dump - wobbly with dirty lamp shades. At least the rest of the room felt clean.
Very easy freeway access. Close to Tamarack Mall. Next door to the Cracker Barrel Restaurant. The breakfast buffet at the hotel was pretty standard run of the mill food - nothing special and not much of it, so get there early if you want the best selection.
Next time I think we'll try the Holiday Inn just for comparison.

Room Tip: Top floor and rooms on the end are quieter.

I recently stopped here for an evening as a halfway point traveling from Pennsylvania to South Carolina. I picked this hotel based on trip advisor reviews after a not so pleasant stop at another hotel on my trip up. While it was a little pricey for a 1 night stay, I was meeting my boyfriend to spend a spur of the moment weekend in the middle of another roadtrip I was on.

This is a nice hotel, very clean and well appointed. The staff was friendly at check-in, even considering there was a snafu with my credit card when I first arrived. The beds were very comfortable, the bathroom was clean, the in room amenities were nice. We snagged a couple fresh baked chocolate chip cookies in the lobby on our way to dinner, and it was a nice touch. The property does have an indoor pool and hot tub, as well as an outdoor hot tub. When we went down in the evening to use the pool, it was FULL of loud, unruly children...maybe about 20-25 who were being supervised by about 5-6 very uninterested looking adults. We almost turned around and left, but decided to brave the 40 degree temperatures and give the out door hot tub a try. It ended up being a nice evening under the stars. I was extremely satisfied with my stay here.

This is a good place for people who are not comfortable with the atmosphere that most of the just off the highway exit hotels can be, but you pay for that extra level of comfort and security. It's an excellent place if you're going to be in the area to check out Tamarak and New River Gorge and some of the other local attractions.

We stayed in Beckley, WV overnight on a road trip between Tampa, FL and Toronto, Ontario, Canada. We were very tired and had not planned an overnight stopping point. It was pure luck that we came across this hotel. The room was very spacious. It contained 2 queen sized beds (unusual - most rooms have doubles), a microwave, small fridge, coffee maker, free wi-fi, clock radio and very large, well appointed bathroom. Hotel amenities include a heated indoor / outdoor pool and 2 jacuzzi's (one indoor, one outdoor). A hot breakfast is included in the price and the food was very tasty.

Staff were exceptionally efficient and helpful. There is an excellent selection of restaurants within walking distance. Overall, a very comfortable and convenient stay. Based on our experience, this property is an exception to the usual, off-the-highway options.

Room Tip: Rooms on main floor allowed easy access to cars for transporting baggage. Trollies available.

We were not pleased with our recent stay at the Country Inn and Suites at Beckley, West Virginia. We are members of the Gold Points Rewards and called their 800 number for a room. When we arrived, we got in the room and left for dinner. When we returned, we felt little bites on our legs and ankles. During the night, my husband could not sleep because he kept feeling bites around his face, neck and arms. Towards morning, we heard a dog bark nearby our room. When we got up, my husband was full of bites. We then felt it was probably flee bites from some previous dog that had been in the room. We asked at the front desk if the room was indeed used by pet owners, and it was in the past. The man at the front desk then gave us $25.00 off of our room rate because of our dissatisfaction.
We are unhappy because no one at the front desk informed us that the room was used by pet owners. We would not have stayed in that room if we knew it had been used by pets. Also, we feel that the 800 number service should have informed us that the hotel was pet friendly because we would have stated that we did not want a room that was used by pets.
Based on this experience, we will not be staying at a Country Inn and Suites in the future.

Room Tip: Check that you are not in a pet friendly room. Pet rooms are nice for pet owners, but they should o...
