Located beside the Confederate Cemetery, there’s a stone plaque above the door that said it was built 1797. Perfect background for the tombstones in photos .

My Mom and Dad met in this church when my Dad was in military school. They have both recently passed and I wanted to make a contribution in there stead. This wonderful church has a history that goes back to around the civil war and the he town is a historic jewel. Whether you are Presbyterian or not you need to feel what it is like to sit in such a historic place. You won't be sorry.

It was easy to park on the street between the church and Carnegie Hall then to walk downtown from there along an upscale row of shops and restaurants to get dinner. Definitely did not feel like a typical WV town, much history here and evidence of wealth.

We wish the church would have been open or even the store operated by the ladies of the church. Although there was some signs about the history, it could have gone into more detail.

This is reputed to be the oldest church building in continuous service west of the Alleghenies mountains. It is usually open during the week - and it was for us. One is free to enter the sanctuary and look around both the main floor and the balcony. The adjacent cemetary is also interesting. I would have enjoyed finding out more of the history of the building and the people who worshipped there - but it's part of Lewisburg history so it's a must to say one has explored the town.
